I'm going to Puerto Rico (San Juan) with my girlfriend, and my brother and his girlfriend. 4 of us, and none has ever been to PR. We're staying at the Ritz Carlton for four nights (Friday to Tuesday), and my bro and I love to gamble, eat, and drink (like most of you on this board). What suggestions/tips might any of you have for us?

Currently, we have reservations at Il Mulino (Italian restaurant at the Ritz) and BLT Steak (also at the Ritz), and we're looking for other places to eat for the other two nights. Anyone been to Il Mulino there? The one in NYC is my favorite Italian restaurant in the world, but I wonder if the quality is replicated in the remote location.

Also, which casino(s) should we go to/avoid? (we play craps mostly)

Any activities that we should do, or not do, while in PR?

Any help is much appreciated.

Go to the islands (Culebra and Viezques) and check out one of the bioluminescent bays on the island, beautiful. Also, go see the huge radio telescope at Arecibo and the Rio Camuy caves (very close to one another). And if you like the beaches the best are on the west side of the island (Aguadilla and Rincon). Have fun

Stay out of San Juan State Penitentiary...the food is awful....

funny shit vd, guess you won't find any pinchos or mofongo in there.

go to the el san juan hotel. Beautiful hotel with a nice casino and more than a dozen bars and restaurants. There is also a Ruth's Chris steakhouse in one of the hotels along the strip. Be careful traveling around after dark.

- Check out the El Yunque rain forest

- Tour El Morro, the old fort in San Juan

- Walk through the streets of Old San Juan

I once lived in Mayaguez on the other side of the island.

Shit forgot about those three.....very true. Although stay out of Old San Juan in the middle of the night. Also, when going to Old San Juan/El Morro, park at one of the garages and walk and beware that you dont go into the Pearl City part thats just east of the fort right along the coastline.
