Former USC great, NFL flop, and not-that-bad Arena Football star Todd Marinovich was arrested this weekend after cops say he was hiding almost a gram of methamphetamine, a syringe and a spoon in his guitar case.

According to sources, Marinovich was skateboarding near the Newport Pier in Orange County -- where boarding is strictly prohibited -- when police approached him. Cops say a frightened Marinovich then took off, leading them on a short chase. Cops caught up with the former QB, who was never much of a scrambler, hiding in a carport six blocks away.

Todd has nine prior drug-related cases in Orange County, and was on probation for a previous drug conviction.

Marinovich appeared in a Newport Beach court yesterday, where he plead not guilty to three misdemeanor charges. He will remain in custody until the Sept. 6 hearing.

A police officer found Marinovich in the bathroom May 20 with a bent spoon and syringe. The former quarterback fled on a bicycle but was arrested 15 blocks away, police said. On the police report, he listed his occupation as "unemployed artist."
Marinovich, who lives in Balboa, was first arrested on drug charges when he was a student at the University of Southern California. He earned nearly $2.3 million as a first-round draft pick of the then-Los Angeles Raiders in 1991 but was removed from the roster after two seasons due to his drug problem.
He later played football in Canada and the Arena Football League. He was arrested on drug charges in 1997, 2001 and last August. In last year's arrest, he was caught skateboarding in a prohibited area carrying methamphetamine and three syringes, police said.
He pleaded guilty to those charges and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and three years' probation.

A buddy of mine swears he saw a story on TV that shows Marinovich's old man--now remarried--with a young son. He's doing it all over again. The kid, who my friend said was 4, was lifting weights. Some people ought to be gelded.

I know Marv he is a great guy, nothing wrong with him.

There is plenty of parents that push there kids, how about Mike Agassi getting Dre up every morning at 5am from when he was 6 years old to drill balls, or how about he taped a ping paddle to adres hand when he 1 yrs old and he hit baloon for eye hand.

The best is Kevin Fetteriks dad who actually bought a CFL team so Kevin could ba a pro qb. They also followed Kevin to BYU from SoCal and bought a house in Provo so he could watch Kevins practices.

Yeah, the kid never had a twinkie. You know you're going to end up bad if you don't have twinkies.

Is he the guy that Sports Illustrated did a story on many years ago about the dad trying to train his kid to become an NFL QB?
