Maddux is 1-10 career against D-Backs. I think this is more of a fluke than anything and he will beat them tonight. Pads are hot.

Last time Owings pitched in SD he got fucked out of a win after pitching 6+ and only giving up one. The 1-10 vs the D Backs with Maddux is kind of deceiving since most of the games were played at the BOB/Chase. I don't trust the D Backs right now but I think there will be a sense of urgency knowing they face Young tomorrow night with a possible sweep looming. Go D Backs, they're due.

GTC:

Greg Maddux (10-9, 3.90) will try to help the Padres inch closer to first place in the N.L. West when he opposes the Diamondbacks’ Micah Owings (6-7, 4.69) as this important four-game series continues at Petco Park.

After rallying for a 3-1 win on Monday night, San Diego came from behind again on Tuesday, pulling out a 6-4 victory. The Padres are now 6-1 in their last seven and have moved within one game of the first-place DBacks. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks have lost six of their last nine.

Despite losing the first two games of this series, Arizona is still 7-5 against San Diego this year.

Maddux is 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA in his last three starts, including Friday’s 14-3 win at Philadelphia, where he gave up three runs in seven innings, his longest outing since the end of June. Maddux has posted a 2.61 ERA in five starts this month, with San Diego going 4-1, including 3-0 at home.

The future Hall-of-Famer is 7-4 with a 3.28 ERA in 13 outings at Petco Park. However, he’s struggled throughout his illustrious career against Arizona, going 1-10 with a 5.28 ERA in 16 starts, including an 8-3 loss in the desert on July 13 when he surrendered four runs on nine hits in four innings.

Like Maddux, Owings has strung together three straight quality starts, but he’s just 1-1 with a 3.26 ERA during this stretch, including Friday’s 6-2 home loss to the Cubs. Owings has just one victory in his last 12 starts going back to June 20.

Owings is 3-3 with a 6.06 ERA in 10 road starts, including a no-decision in San Diego on Aug. 1 when he gave up a run in six innings, with the DBacks winning 9-5.

The over is 5-1 in Owings’ last six starts, with the lone under occurring Friday against the Cubs. Also, the over is 7-3-1 in Maddux’s last 11 (4-1-1 at home).

The under is 8-3-1 in Arizona’s last 11 games. On the flip side, the over is 5-2 in San Diego’s last seven and 8-4-2 in the last 14 series meetings between these rivals going back to last year.

WTF is with teams not being able to make contact with bases jacked lately?

Today's players aren't held responsible for moving runners and NOT K'ing. Whatever happened to what they taught us all thru little league about just making contact with 2 strikes? Players don't look to hit the run-scoring ground ball (especially Khalil Freaking Greene)

Cant believe these teams are over .500 by 12+ games and neither one of them can hit a lick.

Who moved this line? It dropped early by 5 cent then moved again prior to first pitch? Moving on Arizona.
