this line is still posted at olympic despite another cleveland win and (presumably) another detroit loss. a month ago, i would have said this race goes down to the wire. but detroit looks to be done. indians finally getting some hitting to go with their solid starting pitching. tigers could go brewers-style and fade quickly. leyland is a great manager but there's not much else he can do with a group that looks to be gassed. looks like anaheim/boston/yankees/cleveland are the al top 4 in that order imo.

I've been refreshing this line all night to see if it's still up. Just waiting for KC to close the door before I fire. Feeling very good about my Angels to win div at -260.

seattle looked outclassed in this series, and that was surprising. im not sure if its a good or bad thing that there wasnt a game close enough for shields to come in and be tested. angels need to get him fixed for the playoffs. if they do, they have the best setup/close in baseball. if he is still shaky, anaheim could be beatable. but regardless, they should win the west fairly comfortably now. mariners/yanks will go to wire for wildcard.

baseball proving once again to be the ultimate confidence/momentum sport.

tigers losing games they have no business losing (up 7-0 the other day and losing in extras)

indians down to their final out against joe nathan and then a double and a homer to tie it before winning in extras.

gonna be awfully tough for detroit to make up this deficit.

Looks like a nice play there, Prodigy.

Any thoughts on this afternoon's matchup? Carmona -120 vs. Baker. Leaning to Cleveland but what to see the lineups first.

two things i cant get out of my head when i look at this matchup:

1) august 5th. baker vs. carmona in minnesota.
indians give carmona zero run support and are on the wrong end of a 1-0 loss. the indians love to hit for a pitcher like paul byrd. they havent hit well for carmona the last 2 months. although the offense did get him off the hook by rallying against chicago in his last start.

2) i look dustan mcgowan's pitching line following his brilliant start against colorado early this year and he was rocked the next time out. will baker (another young pitcher) follow the same script? you would think that such a great start by baker the last time out would lead to a positive carry-over, but as mcgowan and other young pitchers have shown, thats not always the case.

This is what I have been thinking.

Also, Verlander's start after his no-hitter was not all that impressive, if I recall correctly. I don't see this kid having another lights out performance and Cleveland bats have heated up/returned to baseline. Another reason I'm leaning heavily to Cleveland is the momentum factor you mentioned above. Whatever it is, they've got it right now. Waiting for the lineups.
