Fucking Slide!

I was on this too. I didnt watch the game but from what i saw on ESPN a guy was thrown out at home for the 3rd out in the bottom of the 9th, and if the ****** slid he looked like he would have been safe, thus making the over a winner. Did anyone see this?

Saw it and you are correct. Not only that, but the 2nd baseman barehanded the ball that had to be spinning like crazy while his back was to the infield. He wheeled around and threw a high strike to the plate. The catcher only had to move his glove a few inches because the runner didn't slide. It was the #1 play of the day on ESPN's top 10 plays.

However, it should have never gotten to that. Forget about the Adam Dunn fiasco early in the game where 2 runs were literally taken off the board. In the top of the 9th with score tied 4-4 and Alex Gonzales on 1st base with 2 outs, he was off on a 3-2 pitch. Ken Griffey hit a popup down the left field line. The shortstop, 3rd baseman, and left fielder all got there on the run at about the same time and the ball banged off the shortstop's glove. Since Gonzales was running on the pitch, he tried to score. The throw to the plate was just late and the game was 5-4. Now any legitimate hustling major league player ends up at least at 2nd base on that play. Where was Griffey?? Still on first. Only the laziest pieces of garbage player's wouldn't get to 2nd on that. Now the next batter Phillips rips a drive over the rightfielder's head all the way to the wall. Since there were 2 out, the runner has to be off on contact and should be able to score without a problem. Had Griffey been on 2nd like any major leaguer would, it's an easy run. Anyway, Griffey lazily saunters into 3rd without even thinking of scoring on the play and he's eventually stranded there. By all rights the Pirates should've scored just so he could understand that his run had meaning. If I had a HOF vote, Griffey would not get one from me.

I'm not sure when I'll be able to let this one go.
