Lead now down to two games, now face Atlanta and the pitching matchups are awful for NY this weekend....they desperately need to steal a game tonight and stop the bleeding.

Mets man with a plan, Randolph has had no answers this week, every move he makes lately seems to flop!

The bullpen is gassed, this could be an ugly weekend for NY....what a difference 4 days makes!

Remember they led very late in game 1 of the series vs Philly, and were about to put the hammer down.
:ughhh:

Atlanta has Tim Hudson tonight vs a tired and innefective of late John Maine.

Tomorrow the Mets are planning on recalling RHP Mike Pelfrey to start Saturday's game against Atlanta.

Pelfrey, who is 0-7 with a 5.92 ERA with the Mets this season...that may change now, this was the decision 4 days ago when they were still leading comfortably.

Sunday Glavine-Smoltz.

* asking an old, tired armed, closer like Billy Wagner to get the final 6 outs yesterday capped off a disaster in Philadlphia.

Thanks for the reminder Journey. I wasn't feeling bad enough. They invent ways to lose...And yes, I'd say they are in trouble right now, b/c Atlanta beats the snot out of them down there.

Just when I put the Phils in the grave during the San Diego series, they climb out and bite my tired ass....nobody envisioned them sweeping the Mets....but their bullpen still sucks with 5 finger and Mesa...

And so it goes......

this team fails to address the biggest weakness on their team..pitching

it cost them last season vs the Cards, and it's catching up to them again late in the season this season...

Based on following the team on a daily basis, I think they thought they weren't going to be challenged for the division. I think they may have moved Pedro along more quickly had they thought they would be in a race down the stretch.

Having him back at 80% is better than 3/5 of the staff and would have been good for the psyche of the team.

Pelfrey is responsible for 0-7 record so far this year. His endeavor as a starter this year is over. Humber will be called up to make the next start to fill in between having Lawrence released and Pedro joining the team. I'd rather have Pedro back at 100% and take more time this year than see him back on the DL next year with the possibility of retirement. I think he still has 2-3 more solid years before he considers that.

The problem is with an under performing offense, numerous injuries, and a suddenly failing bullpen. Hopefully they can fix things before they get bounced out of first place.

i still think they will win the East. But i am so happy watching them blow it, especially billy wagner, when he was in Philly he blamed everyone but himself, and at the end of i think 2004 he blew 3 games in the last week that cost the phillies.

Exactly.

I think they're lucky to be in this position and I'm a Mets fan.

you used the word miracle in the title of this thread.........

i dont think it is a miracle at all that they blow the nl east.if phillies were healthy all year they would have had a 5 6 or 7 game lead on the mets today.
