Graduated High school with him and even a bunch of us went out for a couple drinks about 3 weeks ago. I get a call yesterday saying his brother found him dead, overdosed on pills. Good person, good friend, just was addicted to pills and overdid it after a fight with his girl. Only 21 yrs old.

Sorry for your lose!!

On a side note I have no sympathy for those who choose to committ suicide. In my opinion, you are a piece of shit who took the easy way out and only left people behind to wonder what they could have done to prevent it.

I disagree. I think if you're in that much pain and want out, then you should be able to put yourself out of your misery. Just my opinion but I don't think of death as necessarily a bad thing, they are away from all the horrible things on this planet and are just somewhere peaceful and quiet or reincarnated. They are essentially moving on in the next phase of there being.

Very nice thought and I agree with you that you should be free to make your own decisions and life and die how you want, but all too often, the person who commits suicide either blames someone or leaves no explanation at all, only to leave people to speculate on what they could have done to prevent it.

I'll never understand how everyone's heart doesn't bleed with compassion for people that commit suicide. Just knowing that someone felt so hopeless that they felt like the only way out was to take their own life. I just found out a few hours ago that a childhood friend took his life on Tuesday. His girlfriend committed suicide 9 years ago after dealing with rape trauma for two years. I'm pretty confident that those who commit suicide do so as a last resort after much contemplation. It's a final decision, and one that cannot be reversed. And if someone is in that much pain, who are we to ask them to live for our sake? Is it selfish on their part, or on your's? It's the end of self, and nothing is gained. To be selfish, there has to be gain.

Just sent two of my employees away to rehab and both were for pills( Oxy and Vicodin). Pills are some of the most difficult things to get off. I myself am a recovering addict(Not pills but cola and booze) and I haven't seen pill addiction so wide spread ever. RIP CHRIS.

If you have a problem, please seek help and don't be another statistic.

Agree with what you have to say. I have dealt with this issue with a family member. IMO, you need to look as clearly as possible at the event and find the best answer for you, then move-on because nothing will change after the fact. And by answer, I mean yourself coming to and understanding of the event. You will eventually grow stronger from the event, albeit, one of life's less appealing.

By cola, do you mean cocaine, or soda? I recently gave up soda except on Saturdays. It was the toughest addiction to break, and it took me several years of trying do so. I chewed for 2 years, and quit with no problems. But averaging a case of Pepsi a week for 10 years, it's no surpise I gained 90 pounds. I haven't seen anyone else struggle with it like me, though.

With all our backgrounds and ethnic diversities, I'm surprised that it is only once a week, and to aceduecetry, I have all the sympathy for those who try to off themselves, they are going through a living hell and gotta be going through some serious pain....I would venture to say that most of us know someone who has gone through this horrible ordeal...
