ESPN just reported that Garrard was named the starter and Leftwich is gone. Can't say I disagree with the move. Hopefully, we can win some games this year!!! (like 10 at least:103631605 )

Report: Del Rio Cutting QB Leftwich

POSTED: 4:19 pm EDT August 31, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Rumors are flying after Jaguars Coach Jack Del Rio has called a 5:30 p.m. news conference to make "a significant announcement."

One Jacksonville sports-radio host and ESPN are reporting that he will cut Byron Leftwich and name David Garrard as his starting quarterback.

Speculation has swirled about Byron Leftwich since he went down in the sixth game last season and underwent ankle surgery.

Del Rio has stood behind Leftwich as his starter all year. He's healthy but hasn't played well as well as Garrard in the preseason has has a lot of support from fans.

Leftwich told a newspaper reporter earlier this year that he thinks the Jaguars should focus on winning and not who's going to play quarterback.

"No matter how we feel in house, it leaves just the door open for those type of conversations," he told the Houston Chronicle.

leftwich would do really well in Atlanta... they actually have a line that could protect him

this here one armed communist is a huge VY fan and by deafault roots for the Titans....VY has never beaten the jags and this move here greatly helps them out. byron if anything was the guy to beat the titans and the colts...(which makes this move doubly confusing being that those are 4 games right there the jags are putting up for grabs..)

i thought titans would go 5-11 now i will say 6-11 if the jags team is falling apart week by week

this move is greatly appreciated by titans backers who know its the 4th tuffest schedule in the league has just softened

garrard doesn't even come close to the cannon and accuracy that leftwich has in his arm

He could be starting week three for Atlanta.

titans are still playing ATL ON OCT 5TH...but a qb cant just switch teams and suceed. he needs to learn the playbook, personnel etc...kerry collins had 4 weeks to prepare as titans qb and he still stank up the joint in week 3 and was benched for vy...

the biggest secret in nashville right now is that kerry collins has learnt the system and might actually be a better "PASSER" Than vy.....

believe it or not....:drink:

ps...(i said its a secret, no one talks about it because VY IS GOD in nashville and the truth is he wins games. bad passer rating and all,he makes every single player around him better, which is weird but true..)

FYI, Vince Young and the Titans beat us last year 24-17 in Tennessee.

I agree, Leftwich's arm is stronger and probably more accurate, but with our offensive line, at this point I'd rather have a guy who can elude a sack and make some positive yards out of nothing than a guy who is not able to move out of the pocket. I have been the biggest Leftwich supporter from Day 1. But the more I think about it, the more I agree Garrard will give us a better chance to win b/c of his legs. Only time will tell.

No matter how much I disliked the Jags ever since the joined the NFL, I always had great respect for Leftwich

.....I will never forget him running the hurry up offense and needing to be carried by his lineman cause he was too injured to even walk fast.

yeah, the TITANS won that game but if you remember correctly, VY and our offense were about as relevant as those juicy cheerleaders in that game.

It was the ugliest game in the history of ugly football...(if you were a jags fan that because we titans fans were laughing our asses off then only pausing too amongest the coolers on the side lines to try and catch a glimpse of our offense to see who had the cleanest uniform.:missingte )
