Not trying to give myself a pat on the back but I called it in the other thread. I argued with one of my closet friends about this the other day as he said they would fall to 17th or so and I said out of the top 25.

If they were ranked 5th in the middle to late part of the season and lost and fell to say 7-1 then they would still be in the top 25 but because of the fact it was the 1st game and so many teams had a better record than them (obvioulsy) than the pollsters had an easy choice.

Pretty sure most pollsters know they are better than some of the top 25 teams but they havent proved it yet.

My next prediction is they will have a top 15 ranking by the end of the regular season. This loss basically counts as 2 losses on them with the pollsters.

First of about 30 threads I will argue with others in this fall about rankings. Totally ruins what would be the best sport in the nation but because of the whole rankings thing, this sport is somewhat of a joke (IMO).

My question is....if they run the table and win the rest of their games, how high can they climb? It should be a safe assumption they are out of the National title picture.

I'm not a Michigan fan, but by all accounts they were projected to be a pretty good team. Just wondering what they can make of the season

Good riddance.. Nice to see those overrated 'noles drop out as well.

Still screwed up poll though. Hawaii moves up to 22nd after beating nobody Northern Colorado (WHO??) and Clemson is not in after disposing of the 15 team??

And Va. Tech stays at 9 after a horrible showing (Not that it will matter after this weekend)?

In order for them to do that they will have to win their last 3 games @ State, @ Wisconsin and Ohio st. Never happen.. Urine and blue finishes out of the top 25 and Carr goes bye bye.

#27 is not a far cry from the top 25 and if they beat Oregon they will be right back there.

I agree that Va. Tech should have dropped based on that performance, probably Auburn too.

Agree about Auburn, Take away that late turnover for 7 and they could have easily lost that game.

Thats why polls are stupid. These clowns only go by wins/losses because they do not watch any of the games. V-Tech wins so they do not drop even though they were pathetic. My favorite is when the #20 team goes on the road to play the #15 team, and loses on a last second FG. The #20 almost always drops. A loss is a loss for these clowns.

The job of polls is to give us the top 25 teams and Michigan is one of them. What happens if that FG isnt blocked and Mich wins? Would they even have dropped from #5? If so how far? For arguement sake lets say they drop to #10 if the FG goes in and they win. This means a last second FG determined atleast 15 spots in the ranking. The whole process is awful.

Agree with Terps as well. I was heartened to see at least they dropped Texas down a few spots after that less than stellar performance.
Of course, they dropped the ball on V-tech and Auburn.

That is weird. I meant to write coaches but I was staring at Dante's avatar while writing and replaced coaches with clowns. Well most coaches are clowns so I guess it can stay.

Dante's current avatar disturbs me. I'm going to have to have some heart-to-heart avatar counseling with him this weekend.:suomi:

I can 10000000% promise you LLyod Carr will not get fired at Michigan. It will never happen for 1,000 different reasons. The only way would be a 3 win season or less or some kind of scandal. He is from the Schembechler regime and Bo still makes most if not all of the decsions on these type matters. Us people in Michigan laugh when we hear this Carr is going to get fired talk nationally . right or wong if you lived around here you would know what I meant(he was 11-0 going into the OSU game last year). That is not the way U of M operates.

As for those 3 games. They will win 2 of those 3 or better and finish the regular season 9-3 or 10-2, it happens evey year here.
