Mets seem to have turned it around and now have a comfortable lead in the division.. thus a day off for a lot of the regs. No Reyes, Delgado, LoDuca, etc.

Cinci has the advantage of their normal line up and tossing a pitcher the mets have not seen before.. Shearns first 2 starts this year have been fairly decent. He struggled a little in St Louis, but left the game with a ND. His only start at home this year was a quality start against FLA, 7 innings 3 runs, and a WHIP under 1. So far in his 2 games opposition is only batting .250 against him.. he still has that advantage of not being seen or really known.

Maine has been good this year for NY, but I've never been very impressed, he seems to have that one inning where he blows up, Cinci pounded him the only time they saw him, and as stated before put out their normal line-up in todays day game. Another thing going for Cinci is Feliciano should be unavailable today after pitching the last 2 nights, including 25 pitches last night.. clearly the mets best lefty out of the pen to match up with Griffey and Dunn late in the game.. Shoenewis is in the same boat having pitched the 2 previous nights.. one may have to be used for a 3rd consecutive game..
