According to the reported info. I read...
He took HGH in 2004, before MLB listed it as a banned substance.
So, I guess it was legal to use it then. :ughhh: :WTF:
I know HGH is commonly used to treat serious injuries to enhance recovery time.
Ankiel had a shoulder injury around that time.
We just need to not be so quick to Judge.
I mean who really gives a fuck anyways.

I will say the same thing for any player in MLB. If you took something when it was not banned, you broke no rules. Sorry but tarnishing a player's reputation when no rules are broken is complete bullshit.

I really don't care who took what. makes no differance to me. However, just because it wasn't banned by baseball doesn't mean he didn't break any rules. If the hgh wasn't properly prescribed by a dr. than it is a crime according to the government. I would say the place where he got it wasn't really on the up and up seeing how the pharmacy is part of a national illegal prescription drug distribution operation, and I sure Ankiel knew it.

same here. I have said that for a while but wasn't entirely sure I really believed it until recently. Always said sports are entertainment to me and I really didn't care all that much. Was at a Wash/SF game a couple days after Bonds broker Aaron's record. The place was empty and Bonds wasn't even playing. We were in a suite which isn't really condusive to actually watching the sporting event, a lot of drinking, eating, b/s-ing. I figured out I truly didn't care when Bonds pinch hit in the 7th or 8th, it was the only time I was at all interested in the game and 3 of about 25-30 pitches that I actually watched. I was entertained, which is all I really care about when it comes down to it.

If no rule existed in MLB, he broke NO MLB rules period. What someone does that is illegal outside of baseball does not equal what was done within the confines of the league. No rules against HGH, steroids, etc... at the time someone took it, then they should be left alone.

As usual, good point EDG!

I haven't seen any MLB rules against murder, maybe the Phillies should take out Reyes and Wright if they want to win the division. It would be legal by virtue of it not being against MLB policy afterall.

maybe Ankiel should start a dog fighting ring. I'm sure baseball doesn't have a rule against that either.
