Started feeling sick about 5 days ago with bodyaches, weak, sore throat,fever,chills...I waited a few days before going to docs hoping it would go away but it wouldn't so Oon Friday evening I went to see the doc and he said I had a virus and gave me some antibiotics to take once a day and told me alternate between Motrin/Tylenol every 4 hrs for fever which I have been doing but damn, how long does this last? ...I have none of the other previous mentioned symptoms at this time but cant get rid of the fever!! ...I hate taking medication and just want this shit to be over!

whats been some of you guys experiences with having a fever? ...How long would it last? ...what did you do for it? ....any info you can pass along would be appreciated:103631605

Assuming you have some sort of viral infection the antibiotics are doing nothing for you - the Tylenol and Motrin is not helping you get better - it temporarily helps you feels better - you have the flu - typically, about a week - the fever is what paralyzes - I had a fever for nearly two weeks one time - only time helps - you should feel better any day though.

Have you ever tried Theraflu? (the hot liquid) works wonders for me.

Seymour-thanks for the response and I hope you're right about ending any time now!...Damn,I couldn't imagine having this for 2 weeks.

#1 cheater #1- Never tried Theraflu,is it good for fevers?

Just a little while ago when eating breakfast I experienced something else to complain about! Now when I swallow, right in the center of my chest it feels very tight, like theres a snag or something? Its been hard enough to eat over the last several days as it is! What is causing this, any thoughts?

Thanks!

Sure sounds like the flu, ATM. There are some bad versions of it going around now. Im north of you, and had a dose of it for almost two weeks. The fever lasted 5 days. Just got it in mid-August.

The key is lots of rest. Take naps, and just be lazy for 48 hrs, and it should pass. Lots of fluids to keep rinsing the crap out of your kidneys. You should be peeing every hour. Drinking diluted gatorade helped me.

When you start getting over the flu, you may get a cough that lasts another 5 days or so.

ATM, if the doctor TOLD you that you have a virus then gave you antibiotics you should never go to that doctor again. as seymour said they do nothing for a virus.

I also like Theraflu, seems to make me feel better, though as others said a virus just has to run its course.
