The referee that called offensive pass interference in last night's Ravens-Bengals game should resign. You can look at the reply 10 times, there is absolutely zero evidence to even argue that it could have been pass interference. Referees should know better to make a serious mistake that probably determines the outcome of a game. I don't know what they're taught but you should always let the players determine the outcome of a game. There must be millions of qualified people who can do a better job of officiating than this fool. I'm begging that this dumbass ref resigns or be fired imediately. Football doesn't need this to happen ever again.

That pass interference call was the same call that the Seahawks cried about in Super Bowl 40. The receiver then (and Heap last night) straight-armed the DB (not forcefully) but enough to keep him at arm's length and maintain separation and have room to make the catch. I think, by rule, it is OPI.

Johnnymac,

There was no straight arm by Heap. Simply a blown call by the referee. By rule it was not opi, or else you would see opi called a lot more often. Ref needed to let players decide outcome, but this particular Ref took matters into his own hands. Can you say Tim Donahgy.

It reminded me of the Seahawks first TD in the Super Bowl, that was taken off the board....horrible call, what else can you say?

The refs need to have the mentality that 'when the game is on the line' (especially) you must be CERTAIN (no ticky tack crap) that there was a foul that clearly gave the player an advantage.

Amazing that he made that call. He should have to be shown the film and have to answer why he made that call, publically. You just do not throw a flag in that situation for no reason...

Like I already said, millions of qualified people can referee a football game better than that fool. He should resign!

He should resign i agree. I ref at the high school level a number of sports and i constantly take $hit from coaches, spectators, and parents. Everyone always wants their own call. It is human instinct. People are like damn animals when watching a game. This official should definitely be dealt with in some way though because in these games there are thousands of dollars flying around and even officials shouldn't be given second chances. Officials know that players need to determine outcomes of games. That asswipe just had the whistle blowing early and came out like a ball of fire. Once i saw the flag i knew what he was going to call and it just simply was not there.

The Super Bowl call is alot easier to defend from an officiating perspective than last nights call.

A very weak call last night.

It was there, but alot more contact than that is usually allowed and a no-call.

I had cincy and still have to admit that it was the wrong call. If anything was called, and a no-call would have been best, then defensive holding should have been called as the cincy defender was clearly grabbing the ravens jersey.

Lapdance,

You're a novice if you think that was the right call. Gain some experience and watch some more football. It was a phanthom call. I guarantee that you can let 50 officials view the replay 10 times and each and every official would say if anything defensive holding should have been called, there isn't even an arguement for opi.

I agree completely. The Super Bowl call wasn't really that bad of a call. Last night's call was ridiculous. But those calling for his resignation need to let go of this loss and laugh about it. One horrible call does not equal resignation. Human beings, even the best ones, will always continue to make mistakes. Bad calls are just part of the game, and we all know this before every kickoff.

the ref made a weak call, plain and simple...many worse calls have been made....he's not gonna resign or be fired over one questionable call.....It wasnt a phantom call, although one that should not have been made IMO....the only people who are gonna have a problem with it is Ravens fans and people that had money on the game.

Illini,

Not only was it a ridiculous call, but it was a call that probably determined the outcome of the game. Calls shouldn't be made in that situation, unless it's a blantant foul. This referee made himself bigger than the game itself, he single handily decided how this game was going to end. I understand he's human, but professionals can't make those kind of mistakes. He should be sent packing, sent to the minors. He needs to explain why he felt he needed to decide the outcome of the game and not the players. Remember when Lebron drove to the bucket against Detroit in the playoffs, and tried to make the winning bucket. Many fans thought he was fouled but in a game winning or tying situation a referee needs to swallow his whistle and let the players decide the outcome, unless it's blantant.

while I'm sorry for all those that lost money onsuch a terrible call, that's life. Players make mistakes, officials make bad calls it's all part of the game. One thing I learned a long time ago is that there will be factors outside of your control that will either win or lose you money. You just hope the next bad break goes in your favor.
