Hoping to get some advice from gamers on here. I am thinking about upgrading my kids games system and don't know what to buy.
They have a gamecube now which has been good enough as since they were younger the average lifespan of a game disc is about 5 days due to them scratching them (I swear they must play hockey with them). They have gotten better with taking care of them so i figured i'd upgrade.
I'm not much of a player (Although i did love my Atari 2600 when i was a kid:suomi: ) but would like to get something that i could maybe play some sports games. Also want something that kids will enjoy and has a decent amount of kids games and is not too complex (I played Madden on a friends and thought one might need a Masters degree to figure out all the buttons/plays).
I could not tell you one difference between Xbox 360, Ps3 or Wii so if anyone could give some feedback on which way to go it would be helpful. :103631605

How old are they? If they are still 12 or younger, go with a Wii if you are set on upgrading.

I would say the 360 and PS3 aren't worth it at this point, they will drop in price down the road plus have more and better games than they do at the moment.

You my friend, are definately a WII man... Its a simply console with easy childrens games..(i hope you got that part about the kiddish games)..

But you will probably enjoy it and jump in to share the fun with your kids..

(It uses some popular contraption as a control that allows you to swing and flay your arms all over the place.. fun for kids..)

Serious gamers dont buy WII because the games are simply beneath them, and its physically impossible for a real gamer to put in even one full hour or more on a serious game that requires you to flail your arms, not to mention the WII simply doesnt have those kinds of games for those who prefer the mature gaming experience.

Just go with the WII your kids will like it...

(whatever you do, dont buy an xbox360. Those units have given owners so much trouble with electrical failures and such, microsoft has had to sink billions (with a B) into repairs and its been so bad they even offered 3 year warranties on their over hyped heating units... (kinda like buying a car and the dealer tells you that there is a good chance your engine will fail but not to worry because they offer free engine replacement)

For kids = Wii ...

BUT

don't buy them a console if they they can't trade games with friends ... if their friends don't have Wii, don't buy the console for them ... or you'll be shelling out $50 every time they want a new game

Thanks for the feedback guys. The kids are 7 and 4 so i will probably go with the consensus and get a wii. Do they have the sports games (Tiger woods, Madden etc.)?

My kid got a "Wii Sports" package with the console ... it has an animated character instead of Tiger Woods ... and my kid could care less.

.. but again, buy a console if you have people to trade games with .. buying games can be a bit*h at $50 a pop.

Thanks. As long as it has some games i can play from time to time i'd be fine with it. $50 is a little pricey but i wonder if you can maybe get them used on ebay for cheaper? Will have to check it out.
