Patswin: going cold turkey. I've tried patches and stuff before, but I find I'm just postponing the inevitable.

Today hurts like hell.

I've read that it takes 72 hours for all nicotine to leave your system (any way to speed that up??) and that after that, cravings are psychological.

Well if that's the case after today you will be 2/3 of the way there. Keep strong and think of the $$ you are saving by not smoking. Focus on the positives

remember quitting one vice will lead to another in addictive personalities......so keep tootsie pops around....the lesser of two evils

our minds are incapable of doing harm to ourselves

so instead we rationalize smoking subconsciously

for example touching your own lips is nourishing, and taking deep breaths are as well

for smokers sometimes the only deep breaths we took were when we were smoking along with touching our own lips

So replace the smoking with deep breaths and touch your lips without a cigarette

ways to speed it up? I would just ay in bed and sleep all day.

I have never smoked so I dont understand how hard it would be but I would set aside like 3 days and just sleep, not get out of bed and hopefully after that the cravings will lessen. Good luck!!

Well, I don't think it's disgusting, and my boyfriend smokes. Given all the rancid perfumes on the market, I don't much care if people think *I* stink of cigarettes. They can move back a few feet if they want.

I love to smoke. Love it love it love it. If they made a non-addictive, non-lethal, but-still-yummy cigarette, I'd lock myself in the closet and smoke until I passed out from oxygen deprivation.

I'm quitting for health reasons, and because the reality of my family's history with cancer hit home recently. I've two wee nieces that I couldn't bear to not see grow up, and so that is that.

I think I'm going to hit the poli forum now and yell at some people.

Thanks for all the support and well-wishes. Bitchy tho I am right now, I do appreciate it.
