I have a T-Mobile WLAN PCMCIA card from 2 years ago. It's really slow (GPRS network) and it does feel like going back in time via a 33.6kbps dial-up telephone modem, LOL.
But, for only $29.99 per month with unlimited data, it's good enough for me still. What are the monthly service charges these days? Verizon still quite expensive the last time I checked... something like $69.99!? Just for broadband connectivity that I would only use when I'm not at work computer and/or home computer? I'm not blowing $70 monthly, sorry.

I had Verizon and now have Sprint. Sprint is cheaper, $59.99 for unlimited data. Verizon was 79.99, I think.
I do live in the sticks so I agree with Viking, it is not as good out here. I would say a little better that Verizon coverage. If you live in the weeds, you need to have an antenna, my sprint card has a little flip up antenna and I have the external USB cable so I can move the modem around or leave it plugged directly into the PC. On Verizon, I just had a card so I had to hold the laptop near the window to get a signal. In cities, they were both good, so Sprint's lower price was a deciding factor. I think you can get discounts if you have cell phone accounts with them as well.
The one complaint I have with Sprint is the user interface sucks. Verizon's had a realtime graph that could show your signal strength and data rate. Sprint's just has those tiny bars like you see on a cell phone to show signal strength, and the data is just measured with a number

Sprint Broadband
In the winter go to a warmer climate out in the sticks. I wonder if they give you a trial period. hate to sign up for two years and find out it doesn't work in the area. There are so many plans coming out right now,hate to sign upfor extended period. have DSL service at home that works most of the time, however this would sure make the grade if it works.:think2: TThis speed is almost dsl speed orvery close to it
