tough question.but after seeing some of the stats they showed today it was downright embarrassing.i think they said 130 yards rushing.... FOR ALL 3 GAMES THEY HAVE PLAYED.

that falls directly on the coaching staff in my opinion

How many blocks have the coaching staff missed the game? Or tackles have they missed? It is sad for me to admit this, but they just don't have the talent to get the job done this yr. This could be the worst yr ever for my IRISH. But like they say, thing's get worst before they will ever get better. I just don't like how ugly this could really get by the time it is all done.:nopityA: :beavis1:

yes i see what you are saying and usually my response would be the same as yours, but it is their job to recruit the best players(which should be easy) and teach them the way it is supposed to be done.

with that said doesn't ND have stricter admission rules than most colleges? if so that would explain not being able to get the absolute best talent

they should be showing some progress with THEIR RECRUITS now however they are regressing beyond belief. That program is done for awhile. They need 4 SOLID years recruiting. They basically need to start from scratch.

wait a minute, of course it is his fault. college FB is all recruiting and schemes, get the best players, you win, get good players and out scheme other teams, you win. He was supposed to be some offensive genius and did just fine offensively with Willingham's players, so what is the problem? Is he no longer an offensive genius or does he have shitty players? Either way it is his fault. He has his players and he isn't doing shit. If he can't recruit, he is to blame, if he has good players and they can't score an offensive TD, whose fault is that? They look horrible, the OL is horrible, they can't block b/c they have shitty players, they can't move the ball b/c they have shitty players, they can't stop anyone b/c they have shitty players. Who is at fault for that?

Not sure how much at fault he really is, but with that said, if Willingham was held accountable for his team's poor performance, why shouldn't Weiss be?

That is probally their biggest problem when it comes to getting better athletes. Unlike alot of school's out there, ohio st, usc, fla, tn, neb, tx, fla st, mi st. And alot more of them out there that just don't offer the academic aspect of college that the schools like ND, STANFORD, MICH, VAND, PRINCTON, HARVARD that makes it tougher for them to recruit the talent that is out there.

'Fault' focuses source of breakdowns in one place. Agree with above that coach staff, talent, recruiting, and academic standards all play a role. Might be over reaction but I don't see a win for many games to come.

You have to consider that his first recruiting class was a wash since they hired him late. Pretty hard to get players when he was late putting a staff together. Most realistic ND fans expected a 5-7 win season. They lost all of their skilled position players from last year, along with nine defensive starters. No school can reload that quick. Probably looking at 2009 when whey come fully back, thanks to starting 8 freshmen/sophomores. Easily the biggest disappointment has to be the OL.

Now your using the "academic standards card" as an excuse for Michigan this year?

No, Bill Belichick
Charlie had an edge when calling plays in the NFL! He had the video tapes!
Fat ass Charlie CHEATED!

Marinelli was the defensive line coach in Tampa Bay when the Bucs beat the Patriots in the 2000 regular season opener and did a good job controlling New England's offense. After the game the Patriots' offensive coach, Charlie Weis, was overheard congratulating the Bucs' defensive coordinator, Monte Kiffin.
"We knew all your calls, and you still stopped us," Weis said. "I can't believe it."

No way should he take ALL the blame here. He lost arguably the best senior class last year at least offensively in Quinn, Walker (what a moron for leaving early) and Smarjia or however you spell it. That's a lot for any coach to overcome.

The thing that surpirses me the most is ND has no speed. Weiss knew he had to get faster once he took the job and they look as slow as ever. They have nothing offensively except a highly touted QB who we really dont know anything about other than he can take a beating. They have no playmakers. They need 3-4 SOLID years of recruiting to get this back to respectable. They are a long way away.
