at the time the Dodgers were down 3-1 bottom of the 5th

I'm an no manager, but how come when the first two runners reached, he didn't have Lieberthal bunt??
Lieberthal has had only 70 ab's this season, and only 1rbi. The pitchers spot was next, which he used Nomar to pinch hit. So if you going to use a pinch hitter, why not at least get the runners in scoring position. A sac fly would have made it at a 1 run game. Nomar poped up, but maybe his approach is different with runners in scoring position, then with the bases empty...Grady Little is inept.
</td></tr> <tr class="bg2" id="end" align="right" height="17" valign="center"> <td class="bg3" colspan="2" align="left">
</td></tr></tbody></table>

agreed... the best play here is for your weak hitting 2nd string catcher to bunt the runners over. I'm no big time MLB manager though... he probably knows better than us what to do in this confusing situation.
