Say what you want about the guy's playoff record but he is 10x the coach Norv Turner is. No way SD gets better without him. So far this year they don't look much like last year's team.

lol... i was saying this exact same thing to some friends, they laughed when i tried to explain to them that there is a strong possibility the Bolts wont make it back to the play offs..(it was really an off shoot of a debate about Jay Cutler, Matt..l and VY and how stability at the coaching position will help VY and cutler but Matt will fall behind)

So today i was talking to one of them and he now sees what i meant

Very true. Probably shouldn't fire a coach with a 14-2 record.

The problem with pegging SD as an AFC fave is what do we really know about Phillip Rivers? Can he win a game when they fall behind? He is still an unknown

Rivers has played poorly in back-2-back weeks now...fair to question him...however...

The only thing that changed with this team is the coaching staff...

Cottrell looks to be about as inept as they come in adjusting a defense...he should be very embarrassed about how his defense was completely picked apart tonight...

Turner's NFL record speaks for itself...and he is calling all of the plays...when it was 1st and ten and the Pats 31, after the 4th qtr TO...well his play calling spoke for itself...

AJ Smith has his neck on the line with the Turner/Schotty deal...

Turner was hired to win a playoff game...:103631605

Right now the Chargers do not look anything like a playoff team...good thing it is only week 2.

Turner's play calling hasn't been responsible for LT's abysmal YPC 2 weeks straight

That's what happens when you can't run the ball. Much easier to play QB when you handoff 40 times a game and run all over everybody

I thought Rivera was coaching the defense, the ex-Bear defensive coordinator...:WTF:

It looked like there was nobody playing defense for SD. Everytime Brady threw the ball the receivers were playing 5-7 yards off his man. Plus, Brady gets rid of the ball so quick it's hard to get that pass rush on him.

Turner gets alot of credit from Aikman in being an excellent QB developer...

He gets alot of credit for working w/Smith LY...

He had an entire offseason to get in synch w/Rivers...

The Chargers have not scored in the 1H in back-2-back games...

Wait until Rivers gets to face that GB defense next week...his confidence may be shot come next Sunday afternoon...

He is not able to pick up the reads in Turner's modified offense.

If Williams' elbow is toast...

Teams will be able to ram it down their throats all season...their defense will look even more ordinary.

Funny thing about it...when Jammer he was very good at jamming WR's at the line...tonight Ted had him handing at those 10 yard cushions.

Turner has the WR's running late breaks...ball has to be out before they turn...Rivers is so messed up looking for the read that the ball was constantly late when he picked it up. Saw that several times tonight when he had time to get it out...

Parker should help when he gets back...

But Rivers was way late on a deep pass to Davis early in the game, and I think he had the wrong read.

Also, using a "video game" L/R reverse on back-2-back running plays with his pro-bowl FB Neal in the slot was terrible...1st gained plus yards, 2nd LT lost 3-4 yards...reminded me of a sandlot play-call...The Pats knew what was coming the 2nd time.

Losing the coordinators hurts just as bad as lsing the fire that Marty lit under this team for the past few years. I said this in Whormoan's gutter down below, but I haven't seen the Chargers look this uninspired since Mike Riley was the head coach.

What's funny is I don't really think either Cameron or Phillips and especially Turner are head coaching material. Some guys are better off as coordinators.

Chargers should still go 10-6 considering they have 4 games against the two worst teams in the league, but I wouldn't be surprised if they end up losing one of those.

And we haven't even started dealing with Norv's 4th Quarter meltdowns.
