I was depositing through Moneygram today. And I did the one where you go to a grocery store and they have a money gram little phone you just pick up and do the transfer with a MG CS,

but anyway he asking me how I know this person, then when I said it was family he said "ok" and took a long pause typing and when he returned he said "sir, Im not trying to be nosey but I notice you have been sending numerous people money in this location in the past couple day(ive been gettin my ass kicked lately)" and I respond with I have family and friends down there.

Just thought it was kinda wierd.

I think they are just trying to look out for me on not getting scamed by someone rather than suspicious about gambling or anything to that nature, right?

That's what I would think. WU and I guess MG are all about preventing fraud these days. I know for a fact that WU asks a lot more questions than they used to.

Don't use the little, red phone...

It's a lot easier that way.

I actually go to a MG location that is like a Mailboxes, etc. The guy knows me. All he does is put in my phone number and asks for the amount. After I give him the cash he gives me a receipt to sign and I get the reference number.

nosey bastards...

I got this song and dance back in about 2004 when i was sending MG's

If i were ever to be questioned, and i have NEVER been, i'd say its for a collection agency.

(edit-Come on Brock, lay off the details)

I usually deal with western union - moneygram on a 80% - 20% basis. BUT I deposited thru money gram on Saturday morning and was at a grocery store that has a customer service lady do the transaction. Usually the same girl and for the first time she mentioned that I send alot of these to the same country. I told her to just do what she is paid to do and send the payment. I have family down there and they need help finacially. According to my file with MG I have over 100 family members down there.

So these two methods are the only ones for US players to deposit (or 95% of them)?

Haha yea, if you want to know whats real funny, you should seriously see what percentage of the GDP of some Latin American countries is remittances. I know in El Salvador remittances make up something like 1/6 of the country's GDP each year and I think it is even worse in other countries.

I've got the answer....Have had this ready in case they do ask the question...

"sir, how do you know the receiver?"
"it's the father/mother of the woman who cleans my house. He/she is in the hospital...."

it's simply a matter of time before the gov. goes after someone. What's the charge you say? Have no fear--they will invent one and at the very LEAST--you'' spend $$ with a lawyer...too scary for me this way.
