OK, the Nats are throwing Mike Bacsik and he is nothing much but still, this guy Philip Humber is making his 1st MLB start. He was a 1st round pick, but as bad as the Mets have been lately, plus Bacsik just beat the Mets in NY in late July so that is a pretty steep price to pay

Humber went 11-9 with a 4.27 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 139 innings over 25 starts for Triple-A New Orleans this season. He was recalled by New York on Sept. 1, and has allowed one run and three hits over three innings in two relief appearances.

Have a feeling the Mets smoke the Nats tonight....after two straight beatdowns from the Nats the Mets are pissed and ready to finally play to their potential....Bacsik has been getting lit up like a Christmas Tree lately...look for it to continue..Mets roll something like 7-2..GL

Hey you might be right but why would the Mets be pissed tonight? They weren't pissed last night? They lost 2 of 3 to the Nats last week. Shouldnt they have been pissed in the 1st game of this series. I know people think that a good team won't get swept by a bad team, but 2 days ago most people probably would have said Washington wouldnt win this series in NY either.

As far as Bacsik, he has been coming out of the bullpen lately. But if you go back to his last start in Shea Stadium:

Those numbers are actually pretty good for the Pacific Coast League. He ranks 10th in era and 1st in whip.

yes, not bad - I guess I just think this line is inflated because of the "Mets CAN'T get swept at home by the Nats" angle. I am trying to remember the lines when Tim Lincecum for the Giants or Homer Bailey for the Reds made their 1st start, I didnt think either of them was -200 and they had more buzz around them than this Humber guy.

The line is definitly inflated, but this kid is not that bad. Realy liked what I saw late in last nights game. The bats should be banging tonight.
