Do you root against a bet you were going to bet if you decided not to bet it

I only do this with football and mostly on TV games. Tonite's game was a prime example. All day I was set on South Florida +7.5 but never pulled the trigger, than I got home at tonite and couldn't find a +7.5 anywhere so I didnt bet it.

Now I sit here all nite rooting against South Florida. I dont watch many games anymore but this always hurts a little more than most. I end up having a rooting interest in a game that I didnt bet. I have always been this way when I back off a bet.

I do this all the time. I call it negative betting. I used to do it in college baskets all the time. Especially on saturdays when there are a ton of games. I'd write down what i liked and how much i was gonna bet it for just like I'd called it in. then at the end of the day if my figure was negative (which it usually was) I was a winner. LOL.

I did the exact same thing with this game. All week I was going to take USF +7, but last night I had a gut feeling that I was wrong. It's a really sucky feeling when you talk yourself out of a winner.

I was kind of rooting for WV as a result even though I only live an hour away from the USF campus.

All the time ICE for the same exact reasons as you....I want to go 0-1,000 in those bets.

I loved USF all week also and got a sick feeling that scared me out of the bet last night. Luckily my brother talked me into taking it at the last minute. Now I feel like I've got a freeroll parlay in me for tomorrow!

If you don't root against it, then you are not a true gambler.

People that have make believe bets on wagerline probably root for picks they didn't play.

I also root for plays I didn't get in in time to lose....but the best is when you put a bet in the wrong way by mistake and it wins!!!

Yes, and it never works....i.e, the Under in WVU tonight.

I did the same thing regarding USF tonight as well...funny that I thought of this particular game when I saw the thread...I don't necessarily root against the bet, but find reasons to say it was OK to stay off it even when it cashes (like not being able to handicap that White would get hurt or that WVU would have 6 turnovers)...lol...
