(CBS) SIERRA MADRE, Calif. A parking complaint in the Sierra Madre area led to a police chase through the Inland Empire on Tuesday morning.

A suspect driving an allegedly stolen truck and towing a trailer led police and California Highway Patrol officials on a pursuit from Sierra Madre to the Norco area, eventually crashing the vehicle in the Santa Ana River and fleeing into the brush.

According to the CHP, the vehicle뭩 passenger was arrested just after the chase ended shortly before 11 a.m. on the bank of the Santa Ana River, just below Interstate 15.

Riverside County sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers were continuing to look for the driver, who ran from the truck and ducked into the thick foliage along the waterway.

There was no word on what triggered the pursuit, though according to broadcast reports, the vehicle was stolen in Arizona.

Sierra Madre residents called police to report the vehicle

According to broadcast reports, the truck was allegedly stolen in Arizona. Residents in the Sierra Madre area called authorities because the vehicle was parked in their neighborhood.

When police responded, the suspect fled, leading authorities on a pursuit into Riverside County.

The rear doors of the vehicle뭩 trailer were open, and debris spilled onto the roads at various times during the chase.
