Anyone feel Pavlik/Taylor did more for boxing than De La Hoya/Mayweather?

If any fight saves boxing, it might be this one. Pavlik is the kind of guy that makes me want to watch boxing again. It's good to see there are still fighters out there that don't want to just eek out a decision.

that's a little bit of a stretch in my mind jake, it'll take more than one great fight to undo all the wrongs that ails boxing right now. i was happy with the results though as dimeplayer and whale were recomending pavlik large.

you couldn't find parking spots at the restaurants/bars the night De La Hoya/Mayweather fought. I didn't hear one person talking about the fight the other night.

That's true. Maybe it was just me but I think I might pay for a Pavlik PPV in the future. All my boxing money goes to UFC/MMA now. Can't remember the last time I paid for boxing...

For fringe fans like myself - YES!
I felt so ripped off after Mayweather/DLH (even though I watched it for free). I'm going to definitely go out of my way to watch the next Pavlik fight; no question.

media is biased against whites...

Sunday..there was very little coverage on the fight

back in the day of Hagler-Hearns...would have been the top story

It may have more to do with how far boxing has fallen rather than the race card.

Don King screwed up boxing-and it will never be the same until he's out of it.

......

Boxing has fallen in the states but not so much overseas. Make sure to watch Joe Calzaghe against Mikkel Kessler in a month or so and pay attention to the attendance (fight is in britain). Places like Britain, Germany and Japan still do very good boxing bussines. The US is down a bit but that's because the general public likes the heavyweights to much in the US. There's all kinds of good fighters and fights in smaller divisions. A good example just from this year would be Israel Vasquez-Rafael Marquez II. It was an absolute war and blood and guts fight but they are small so nobody cares. The truth is the best fights are often in those smaller divisions. A lot of people talk shit about boxing but don't really know what they are talking about.

That's because the general public also falls for BS hype. People who bought ODLH-Mayweather and expected some great fight were ignorant to the sport. A guy like Pavlik is exciting every damn fight and so far has only gotten minimal attention. Hopefully Arum can change that.
