Congrats Rockies backers! Im sorry but Holliday was out at home Padres catcher blocked the plate he never touched home. It should still be tied at 8. Tough call Padres backers!

if you are going to complain about that...how about the HR they didnt call, that was clearly over the fence, the ball disappears

If the umps blew that home plate call, they also blew that home run call. :nopityA:. :lolBIG:. In the end, :money8: that's what matters.

Barrett clearly did not have possession of the ball prior to blocking the plate.
Couldn't that have been interference?

Barrett was in the process of attempting to field the ball. Even if he was just setting up waiting for the throw, catchers aren't called for interference the way a regular infielder would be if they get in the way of a baserunner when they don't have the ball. The flip side of that is baserunners trying to score can run into the catcher and try to knock the ball out at the plate.

If you remember a few years ago, ARod tried to karate chop the ball away from Bronson Arroyo as he ran to 1st base, that is not allowed either

Thanks t3a for that detailed explanation. I don't think Holliday will dive head first again into home plate. Imagine if the injury was more serious.
