Well, you do have a point - but I'm talking about individuals here.

hoffman blew more games this season than ive seen him blow in his entire career. while a closer cant be entirely responsible for a loss, he certainly killed the pads in 2 of their last 3 games. 'tis the life of a closer though.

there arent many closers in the history of the game id rather have with the ball in the bottom of an inning and his team with a 1-run lead.

... just not in 2007 though. very un-hoffman like.

Might just be a sign of the end of a great career for Hoffman. Fucnluc said it best I think, Petco just might have prolonged Hoffman's career.

what was his fastball tonight, 83???

at one point tonight the announcer said something to the effect of "he got it up to 88 on that one" and made it sound like he was throwing hard.

actually until today he had the same amount of blown saves as last year - its amazing how quick people are to label someone as washed up, until sat he had been having one of his better years...he had a consecutive saves streaks from may to august this year - nobody praises him when hes great but all over him if he blows a save
