Holliday never touched home, Justice served.

Next time hopefully ONE of the three umpires better see the ball go over the fence!

The ump was scared to call him out.

If the runner was safe and he touched the plate why was the ump just standing there not making the safe call. That will be the biggest call of the umps' career and he jsut stood there and froze under pressure. When you don't make a call it means the play is still ongoing, as the runner has not touched the plate nor has he been tagged out. The ump should be fired tomorrow.

I agree he was scared. No way he should be fired though. Maybe 10% of umpires would have had the guts to make that call.

hardly. McClelland has worked numerous World Series. He also called off a homerun by a player named GEORGE BRETT because he had too much pine tar on his bat.

I swear these two fags must be cousins - every time I think of one of them I think of the other - the two most talented choke artists - how about that managing move to cut the damage when all hope looked lost.

I am pretty sure that Hoffman has blown more big games than either benitez or Julio.

Your damn right he was scared to make that call - but you can't call him out unless you are 110% certain he missed the plate - you can't even say 100% that he missed the plate though I think he missed it.

best part was TBS played that introduction of him when he came in like it was going to be lights out.

The big difference is Benitez and Julio will flat out choke - as in walk the bases loaded - ball after ball until the fastball comes slower than normal right over the plate - while Hoffman just seems to get roughed up.

I dont think McCelland knew if he got the plate or not hence the safer of the two calls was obviously the SAFE call so he went with it.

Giles throw looked like a lollipop when it left his hand. I was shocked as hell to see it land at the plate.

He may have worked World Series games, but what big calls did he make? Also, while he'll always be remembered for Brett's pine tar homer, it was a meaningless regular season game, as both Yanks and KC were also-rans that year.

It doesn't get any bigger deciding what team goes forward to the playoffs and which team gets sent home. He clearly wanted the runner to do the right thing and touch home...and when he realized that wasn't happening he bailed out and called him safe. Seeing a play one way and then ruling it the opposite way should be grounds for immediate dismissal. I can't think of any plausible explanation for seeing a runner safe and just standing there and not making the call.

I hate all of these media people saying "Does he touch or not?
Well, it doesnt appear so."

SHUT THE FUKK UP YOU SPINELESS MORONS. NO HE DID NOT TOUCH AND IT WASNT EVEN CLOSE. THERE IS NO DISCUSSION. HE NEVER TOUCHED. UMP MISSED THE CALL. (I HAD NO MONEY ON THIS ONE EITHER)

NO for the next week, we will all hear about DId he touch or not........it isnt even questionable, yet these a-hole media types will beat this into the ground.
