Best move of the game was the fact Halladay never went back to home.

Just laying there was smart because he fooled the ump. He panics and goes back he is called out.

agreed. . very tough call for the Tim C. If he does try to go home, he makes it an easy call.

Baseball needs replay now no doubt, padres just got screwed bad.

would not have been 1 out, would have been a double play, 2 outs and man on 3rd

holliday never touched the base, barrett did tag him after he got the ball and should have been called out but the ump made the safe call before he could tag him

if holliday was indeed safe, wouldnt he have been a little more jubilant after he ended his slide? he just laid there, imo, knowing that he was out (or at least that he didnt touch the plate). i know he got scraped up, but your emotions at that point (esp. if you won the wild card) would override a shot to the nose or whatever he took.

imo, he knew he was out (or that he never got the plate). he just laid there with no emotion.

He was "injured"

and he was out but not trying to beat the catcher back to the plate sold the call to the home plate ump. Ump showed little confidence in his call. Usually they make a confident signal with authority in this situation. But anyways congrats Rockies, they are clearly the cinderella team in this playoff now.

It wasn't much of a surprise that the umpire blew that call at home. This umpire was absolutely awful all night long. Holliday never touched home plate. If the runner was safe, then why didn't Tim McClelland call him safe right away. Once he hesitated on the call he looked like he was waiting for the catcher to tag him and then call him out. Horrible call.

even the batter coming up to bat didnt celebrate as he thought he was out. He had the best view and he acted like he was out.

It's just a show guys!

yep. pads and rocks were trying to work on that game-ending play for hours around lunchtime today. its totally scripted.

you should have seen holliday in during the rehearsal this afternoon. he was able to strategically place the ball in between giles and the wall (with just 2 feet to work with) 18 out of 20 times. it was amazing. and to think he did it when it was showtime too! my what a thespian.

the time of the bang-bang play at home play was better live than it was in rehearsal this afternoon though. giles kept on one-hopping it to the catcher. nice of him to follow the script and get it there on the fly with the world watching.
