Takes Out Zambano After 84 Pitches

Wants Him To Pitch In Game 4 On 3 Days Rest

What If There Is No Game 4 ?????????

The Worst Part Is He Let Zambrano Bat With The Bases Loaded Right Before He Pulled Him!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And In The 3rd He Didnt Have Him Bunt With A Man On Second With No Outs

Fucking Management 101 Here

Wtf !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

talk about over-managing...horrific move to pull Z in game 1 of a best of 5. and pitchers today flat out do not get the job done on three days rest. see jake peavey. so you now have to take 3 out of 4 from the dbacks - good luck fuking moron.

He pulled him because the game was tied and that D'Bax offense looked flat. It's not his fault that his most reliable pitcher came in and gave up two runs. I'm sure if he had known how bad Marmol was going to be, he would've brought in ANYONE else. He also took out Zambrano because he's going to pitch Sunday on 3 days rest and doesn't want him out of gas and not able to pitch game 4 which of course would be an elimination game, one way or another. If the Cubs are up 2-1, you don't want to go back to AZ, so you'd throw your horse out there to win it. If you're down 2-1, you want your "best" guy out there to extend the series.

That being said, Lou did lose this game for them. I, as well as many of you of course, would've kept Z in there to pitch to at least one more guy. If he gets him out, continue, if not, Marmol comes in. He also should've walked Connor Jackson and loaded the games and hoped for a harmless out (or a DP) followed by any kind of out.

His first mistake though was not bunting with Theriot on 2nd, 0 out, and Zambrano batting. Webb learned his lesson by treating Zambrano as another pitcher who can't hit after he doubled off of him. Clearly Webb was going to get him out one way or another. Yeh, Z did lace that ball, but it was a routine out if Drew wasn't 4 feet tall.

This series is still long from over although I do think the DBax will win it easily.

Lou f-cked this one up for sure. You've simply got to leave Zambrano in the way he was pitching with less than 90 pitches. No way you can make a decision that hurts your chances to win game 1, to keep Zambrano fresh so he "might" win game 4. On top of that, while Marmol had a great year, he has no playoff experience and the last pressure game the Cubs had was in Fla and he came in and gave up 2 runs.

You've also got to bunt Zambrano in the 5th inning. You know runs are at a premium in this game and with no force at 3rd, it's a fairly routine bunt to make. You've got to give Soriano the chance to bring the run home from 3rd with less than 2 out. Soriano's fly out to center would have scored Theriot.

I was listening to Lou's post-game press conference and he was pissed when a reporter asked him if he could be "accused" of looking ahead to game 4. He can be as pissed as he wants but in a 5 game series you play each game to win. It's that simple.

You guys are overreacting. The Cubs were sitting on 1 run regardless of whether he pulls him.

He could of played Game 1 to win all he wanted and kept Zambrano out there through the 8th.. There's still no guarantee they would of won the game the way their bats are swinging.

Mean while he has a reliever that has been throwing change for ERA all season long.

nothing wrong with Lou's move.

isnt the game ur in the one you try to win??? i hate when they manage for the future might not even be a game 4 now then how stupid will he look??? And oh yeah id rather have zambrano win game one then come back on the road in game 5 if we were up 2-1 or yes at home down 2-1 but wouldnt you want your ace in game five on the road instead of someone else?

not bunting, pulling Z, being a fat fuck.... Pinella sucks... i didn't bet on it nor do i like the cubs but i like baseball played the right way!

With Loser Lou...

making decision's like that my play is to fade the Cubs the rest of this series. That comes closeto Grady Little not pulling Pedro. You really wonder if Lou has too big of an ego and it fucks up his thinking.:think2:

I am confused. If he does leave Zambrano in for the 7th and then brings in Marmol for the 8th... does Marmol now pitch a scoreless 8th because it was the 8th and not the 7th?

You have a 7th inning guy, an 8th inning guy and a 9th inning guy.

If Zambrano goes 8 innings, Marmol doesn't come in to pitch the 9th ... you don't have a pitching order like you have a batting order.

I am confused by the point you are trying to get across. First you say you have a 7th inning guy, 8th inning guy, and 9th inning guy. Then you say you dont have a pitching order like you have a batting order. By what you implied in the first sentence, it would be like having a batting order.

Also do people realize the Cubs did not score anymore runs? Even if Zambrano does stay in and shuts them down, best case scenario they go to extra innings.
