A buddy of mine were talking the other day about this and he thought it was weird I talked to my mom on the phone 6 days a week. My dad about once a week but my mom almost everyday.

I mentioned to him if I dont talk to her for 2 days she calls me and sort of jokes with me why I havent called in a few days. He said it was weird as I have no children to discuss with my mom, though we do spend alot of time talking about my dogs (LOL, as pathetic as that is). He said if it wasn't for his kids he wouldnt call his parents hardly ever.

I am 36 years old and my mom and dad are still married. Wondering what most of you do. He says 2-4 times a month for him.

Who here is the odd one between him and I? I would think most talk to their parents 3 times a week minimum.

I tend to think talking with your folks that often at age 36 is rare, unless you live in the same city. I talk with my parents about once a month or so.

I live about 5 miles from them.

The more I think about this, the more I believe alot of this has to with the fact of the popularity of the cell phone. There is no reason to not be able to contact each other 90% of the time on first attempt and we are all just a push of a button from that.

I don't talk to my parents enough. Everyday would be a bit much for me. I am not a phone guy, unless it is a lil cutie

When I was in college, I'd probably speak to mom once a week and dad twice. Now that I'm back at home, I maybe speak to them each once a week, and that's pushing it sometimes... Can't wait to move out of here in a few months.

6 times a week is a little weird for a 35 year old man.

How often do you talk to your kids?

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to
find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON : "Daddy, may I ask you a question?"

DAD: "Yeah sure, what is it?"

SON : "Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"

DAD: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask
such a thing?"

SON : "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much
do you make an hour?"

DAD: "If you must know, I make $100 an hour."

SON : "Oh! (with his head down).

SON : "Daddy, may I please borrow $50?"

The father was furious.

DAD: "If the only reason you asked that is so you
can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then
you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish
behavior."

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the
door. The man sat down and started to get even angrier about
the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get
some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and
started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $ 50 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

DAD: "Are you asleep, son?"

SON : "No daddy, I'm awake".

DAD: "I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on
you earlier. It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you.
Here's the $50 you asked for."

The little boy sat straight up, smiling.

SON : "Oh, thank you daddy! "

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.
The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get
angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then
looked up at his father.

DAD: "Why do you want more money if you already have
some? "

SON : "Because I didn't have enough, but now I do.

"Daddy, I have $100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?
Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have
dinner with you."

:sad3:
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he
begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard
in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without
having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to
our hearts

I don't think it's weird for a man of your age to talk to his mom every day. It just depends on how close you are. In Asian cultures the children live with the parents up until they are age 35 unless they get married.

I talk to my mom on the phone about 4 times a year but I email her a couple times a month. I usually have a seance session once a year for my dad and talk to him from the great beyond. Every once in a while Grandpa and Grandma show up to say hi.
