last nights strikezone in game one was a joke for both pitchers. its no surprise that wang and sabathia were out of the game after 5 innings because they had to throw a ton of pitches and neither got the benefit of the doubt on borderline calls. it was pretty ridiculous for both teams. yes, both teams are patient at the plate. but greg maddux would have had trouble with that zone last night.
im expecting pettite to sack up and be the quality postseason pitcher he has always been. i dont think the indians are going to have a lot of success against him. royalfan brought up a good point in a thread elsewhere in the forum yesterday. statistically, the indians seem to hit lefties well. but stats can often lie. good lefties have given cleveland problems. and i think the sizemore/hafner/martinez trio could be held in check. indians can flip cabrera and martinez around to the right side, but both are better from the left.
carmona is a constant imo. i dont expect him to be at all rattled on the mound tonight in his first postseason start. the guy attacks hitters and doesnt have the type of arsenal where you have to worry about him hanging curveballs or getting his breaking stuff over the plate, mainly because he doesnt throw any breaking stuff. he just dominates with two basic pitches that just have sick movement.
although i expect carmona to pitch well, there is no way i am going against the yanks today with a big game pitcher like pettite on the hill in a must-win. i think the first to 4 could win it and it could stay under the number by a run or two.
