I know-probably a really ignorant question. But when it comes to the internet, I confess to being really ignorant!
I just wondered if they are charged a fee by their internet service provider or any other party when someone clicks on their website to look .

I'm guessing they are definately charged for having their website up on the worldwideweb; but wonder if they have a per hit-"click on" charge?

The simple answer is no.

Overall, they do have to purchase enough bandwidth to handle the hits\traffic they get, so in a vague, roundabout way-each person does cost them a very, very small part of the bandwidth that they have to purchase.

Thanks TThola,

That explains why some of them have "timeout feature".

The timeout is a security feature, but also helps cut down on the load on the servers by "deleting" inactive connections.
