I did not bet on tennis in a while but here I am back and will post all my plays in this thread and try to help other people .

My first play will be :

Short odds in this match but I am still happy to take them .

E. Gagliardi without a win on WTA in a whole year . 8 straight first round losses but you can say this girl had tough luck ... just to name some of her opponents : Dulko , Azarenka , Dechy , Schiavone , Vaidisova . Not the people you want to play in round 1 of a tournament .

Vesnina in semis of tournament in Tashkent last week with a loss to Azarenka . She played decent tennis there but Azarenka played better than Elena and beat her in 2 straight sets .

They are playing in Russia so Vesnina will be even more motivated . She had 3 days off after that tournament so I do not think fittness will be the problem for Elena here .

Looking at Garcia Lopez v Chela and Del Potro v T Johansson so there might be one more play today . :tongue2:

My pick is Philipp Kohlschreiber 1.45 at betfair 6 units play

The game is being played on a carpet court and the court is slow so this should be a big advantage for Philipp . Kohlschreiber won BMW Open this year ( clay ) beating people like Clement , Baghdatis and Youzhny in the finals . This court in Moscow is very similar to a clay court . Philipp already played in Moscow against Russia in Davis Cup few weeks ago and beat Davydenko and put up a fight against Igor Andreev .

Marin Cilic with a win against S.Bolelli in the first round in two sets but this is not really a big surprise he advanced to this round with Bolelli being 7:17 this year.

I do not see how Cilic can beat Philipp Kohlschreiber in this match ... Kohlschreiber isnt really known for tanking matches , he is the better player , more suited for this surface and could play in round 3 against his buddy M.Youzhny who he beat at the US Open :tongue2: Everything speaks for Philipp Kohlschreiber to win this match .

Great start. Nice hit on Kohli. I was on Cilic but I guess Kohli had a bit more class.

Thanks bro , I am doing more research now than I did before and dont bet too many matches in a day . I wanted to bet on Mathieu to beat Kunitsyn , odds were 1.37 but I do not trust both players . Just woke up and seen Mathieu won in straight sets . Doesnt matter tho as long as Philipp wins .

Kohlschreiber played a bit better and had a little more class to stay calm in the deciding set .

There are few interesting matches today and I might post one more pick . I do not understand why Dancevic is 1.61 vs Wessels . Is Wessels really that good or there is something wrong with Dancevic . You know anything about this rhino ?

Wessels is a big serve and volleyer. He tends to go well on the faster surfaces like grass/carpet/indoor hard. Other than his serve and volleys, he's very average. He's mainly a challenger player.

I've taken Wessels because he's played in the qualifying rounds and came through comfortably. I'm hoping he maintains that form and keeps serving big. Dancevic is definitely a better player but maybe inconsistent.

I put their clay court stats in here because this carpet court in Moscow is slow and similar to a clay court . Mahut does prefer faster surface and his best game is the grass court where on the other hand we have Igor Andreev here who has a huge amount of clay court matches played and should be more suited for this court .
They played a hardcourt in France last week and Mahut beat Igor in the third set tiebreak in a very close match .
Igor Andreev played in Moscow few weeks ago when Russia advanced against Germany to the finals of the Davis Cup . He was very motivated and was the one to win his both games . Now we are in Igors basement this week and head to head against Nicolas Mahut is going to be 1 : 1 after this game . Carpet court stats speaks for Igor here too . Like this revenge factor in his country a lot today .

It is VENDETTA time

I am looking at Ivan Ljubicic vs Mardy Fish right now , like Ivan in this one a lot and 1.50 at betfair seems very juicy for me . I mean Ivan knows how to play here after winning this tournament two times in a row so he must do something right :aktion033 Mardy Fish is not the fittest tennis player on the tour with a three set match in the round 1 . I do not see what weapons Mardy could use here to beat Ljubo in his favourite tournament . This one tournament is just made for Ljubicic just like the Umag tournament for Moya where he always plays well .

I think Ljubicic is overpriced at -206. Mardy beat Ivan earlier this year in Melbourne. Yes...the Opticourt in Vienna is a different surface than Rebound Ace in Melbourne. Unless you're confident Ivan will take this match in straight sets, then I would find something else. Ljubicic is favored by -3 games. Over/Under is 23 games.

Ivan Ljubicic Mardy Fish

My pick is Ivan Ljubicic 1.50 at betfair 6 units play

They are going to start soon so you got to hurry up in case you want to place a bet on this match .

Not much time to write my opinion about this match .

Ivan did win this tournament two times in a row .

Indoor hard court stats :

Ivan Ljubicic 49 : 13

Mardy Fish : 20 - 14

Playing in Ivans favourite tournament I can not see anything but a Ljubo win in this match . :tongue2:

No chance for Nicolas in this match at all . Igor won almost every game to 0 or 15 and did not face a single breakpoint .
Betting on this short odds I will have to keep good win % but we are going to see how I end up after like one month of wagering .

This is a very tough win right there ...

Ljubicic had 5 breakpoints in the first with one of them being 0-40 but was not able to break Mardy and ended up going down in the tiebreak even tho Fish only won like 6 return points in the whole set . Second set was all Ivan with the third one being very close again . It was a late play for me with not much time for a research but I knew Ivan would try his best to win this game even tho he is not the same player he used to be few years ago .

IMPORTANT INFORMATION :

Two-time defending Stockholm champion and top seed James Blakeset up a rematch with last year's final opponent Jarkko Nieminen, the No. 6 seed, as he defeated Canadian Frank Dancevic 6-3, 6-2 in second round action, Thursday at the If Stockholm Open.
Blake, who needed just 53 minutes to post the victory, improved to a perfect 12-0 lifetime record in Stockholm. In last year's final, he defeated Nieminen 6-4, 6-2.
The American No. 2 is playing in his first ATP tournament since the US Open. During the summer hard court season, Blake won 20 of 24 matches and picked up his second ATP title of the year at New Haven.
He stands at No. 9 in the ATP 2007 Race and needs minimally to reach the semifinals to add to his season points total (Blake's ATP 2007 Race points breakdown). Spaniard Tommy Robredo, the current No. 8 in the Race standings, is six points ahead of Blake but is not playing this week.

After their matches :

Blake: "I was taking some chances on some returns there, and they were working out. It's a good feeling. That's when I play my best, when I am taking those chances. Today just proved that once again."
Nieminen [On the match]: “I was playing almost perfect in the first at 6-0, and it made it easier because Luczak didn't serve so well. He played a lot of second serves and I played every point. He started to serve better in the second set and I didn't take the break points I had to go 3-1 to a 4-1 lead, and then it went to 3-2 and he started to play more aggressive and I couldn't break him anymore. But I'm satisfied I could finish in two."
[Evaluating his quarterfinal opponent]: Blake is two-time champion here so he is the big favorite, and obviously a good player. I had a tough loss against him in the finals here last year; he was clearly better, it was a pretty easy final. But two weeks before that I had tough match against him, so I try to remember what I did there.

This match :

Blake's record against lefties is extraordinary, having one 25 consecutive times including 3 wins over Rafa Nadal. Jarkko is not going to be able to blast winners past Blake due to the power and strength deficit he faces here .
James Blake needs every point he can get to catch Robredo in the ATP 2007 Race and qualify for Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai . Fernando Gonzalez is in the 7th spot with only 10 points ahead of James Blake but he is playing in Vienna today against Ferrero so he will make some points this week too .

1.36 are short odds but I will take them :

James Blake

  • 12-0 in Stockholm Open
  • 9th in the ATP 2007 race
  • 4-0 head to head
  • too powerful

Thanks mate , I pick my plays very wisely and based on many factors . Betting on such short odds in tennis I will have to keep a very high winning percentage .

James Blake was 5 : 2 in the first set and still lost this one . Jarkko had a lot of breakpoints in the second set and even 3 bps once but could not use them . After James Blake won the second set Nieminen was not able to make many points anymore and probably gave up after missing so many break chances in the second set . He went down 0 : 4 in around 15 minutes of the third set and couldnt get back in the match anymore .
