After betting approx. over $6000 one day. (I was betting for me and a friend.) The book manager asked me for my ID and SSN. I refused to give it to him. I said to him I would take my business elsewhere that day. What were they going to do?

I went back the following week to Harrah's Reno and I bet again and they know me now. I'm the only one throwing down serious coin, the rest of the bettors are small time. They record plays this black book, why? Why are they tracking me? I'm suddenly paranoid. Should I be worried?

I easily go across the street to Cal-Neva and they don't ask questions or bother me. I bet most of my plays at Cal-Neva this weekend because of it.

Thanks for your answers/insight.

maybe they wanted to give you a player's card for comps etc.
or to have on file for tax reporting

Casinos are required to get certain information once you pass a threshold of cash in/cash out. It is the government that requires this and the manager is simply doing what is required.
Believe me, the last thing a supervisor there wants to do is unnecessary paperwork.

Next time you go in, ask the manager to give you a card spelling out the CTRC-N and regulation 6A (this name may have changed in the past few months, but he will know what you are talking about). Most casinos have a card that explains to the patron why they are required to get such information. If you refuse, they are obligated to bar your action until you provide it.

They cannot offer the information or tell you ways around it, but will be able to answer your questions as to what the requirements are and why they have to request it

Hope this helps.
