From everything I read to everyone I talk to it seems like most have put this team on a level that even they may not be able to live up to.

They go on the road too play an unbeaten Dallas team who has looked almost as good as them and are 5.5 point favorites and it is sure to rise. Most square shops will have the game at 7 come kickoff (I actually found one tonite).

Not sure I ever remember a NFL team considered this good from the media to the fans in my lifetime. Not saying they dont deserve it but you have to assume they wont cover a few games this year and maybe this is one of them. Most that bet and follow the NFL know that usually ntohing is as good as it seems and nothing is as bad.

How about the '99 Rams...they went 13-3 ATS against a spread that was about -7 on average, and covered by an average of 10.7 points in the regular season

That's the most impressive I see in the last couple decades.

For comparison, NE is 5-0 ATS right now against an average line of -10, and covering by just under 2 TDs

Maybe this isn't a question that can be answered with stats, but I always try anyway hola

Sometimes it's good to just ride it out and bet on them. I am from New England and I remember in 2004, I think they went about 12-4 vs the spread. All my buddies who don't know anything gambling wise took them every week. I stayed away from them and bet against them a few times because I thought the numbers were getting inflated. Needless to say I was pissed that there was a cash cow in my backyard that I did not cash in on.

I believe those Dallas teams, particularly of 92 were huge spread beaters that the public cashed in on too.

IFIndy and the Pats are both undefeated then that will be one of the biggest regular season games in a long time. Considering the SUper bowl wins of both teams, Manning and Brady, and the huge rivalry, that will be huge.

Dallas is good but should have lost to Buffalo. Lets get real here.

I'm not ready to crown 'em since they have played the following pile of manure....

Jets (1-4)
Buffalo (1-3)
Chargers (2-3)
Browns (2-3)
Cincinnati (1-3)

But the sure have looked good beating these pretenders.

I don't bet the NFL, and if I had a favorite team, it would be the Patriots. But I'm gonna bet Dallas this week just because it's a good 5-0 team at home getting a lot of points. Maybe New England is that good, but every time I've ever thought that about a team in the NFL, they came back down to reality pretty quickly.

Betting 7 point road favorites will lead you to the poorhouse in the NFL. Eventually a number gets too high because it is driven by alot of public bettors, this one has all the makings.

No doubt about it. I will not bet the pats this week for that reason though I wish i got them early and then Dallas late for a possible middle.

your so right. I may bet a 5.5 right now and more +7 (hopefully on gameday). Dont middle as much anymore with Neteller gone and money so hard to move, good call.

When do you think the last time a 5-0 team was a 5.5 dog at home?

Dallas should lose this one anyway.

The 2007 Patriots will wind up being the greatest ATS team in the history of sports.

It will probably be 7 at kickoff, but the game won't be that close. Dallas was exposed on Monday Night, for sure. My new handicapping angle is the Split Screen Angle:

If they show a split screen of the two head coaches just prior to kickoff, how does that make you feel about the game?

So if you've got a split screen of Bill Belichick and Wade Phillips, who ya got? I had the same thought just prior to the NE/SD game when I pictured Bill Belichick and Norv Turner.

OAKLAND RAIDERS- Biggest public team

In response to the post by ICE regarding the current NE team as the most public bet team ever.

I would like to add that I believe the RAIDERS for a few of their seasons were the most heavily backed team in the NFL.

For those of you old enough to remember this, feel free to comment.

At the time, the RAIDERS were basically "AMERICAS TEAM".

I know a few guys that will bet them every week for the rest of their life. But you won't see me on this team with over inflated lines. I rather lose than give up 2-3 extra points a game.
