Big 10 haters will be out in full force after Ohio State is ranked 1 or 2 tomorrow. I am a Penn St guy, I don't like Ohio State, but they remind me of their 2002 title team.. great D, good RB, and a QB who does enough.

........10x more exciting than March Madness.

If they did it properly, and it would make boatloads more money than the bowls. Go back to 11 games, 16 teams, all conference winners get in and have 5 at larges. No one will ever convince me that wouldn't be both more exciting and make more money. Truthfully the Sun Belt doesn't deserve an at large bid and it should be 17 teams with a play in. Typically the first team not getting in is ranked about 13th. It would have an added side benefit of having monster non-conference games during the regular season if teams don't have to worry about losing and being eliminated from the title hunt.

It would be ridiculous, have the semi finals on Xmas Day and the final game on 1.1.

i hate the playoff idea....none of thee games today would have hardly mattered for amazing excitement...likethe LSU loss meaningless.... the system has worked with bowl games for 8- years + its a great tradition...lets leave something old that works alone...even the debates on what team is better is great banter to have...

this post makes no sense. the big-10 is terrible, its not like there is any debate about it. big-10 'haters'? michigan lost, at home, to app st and then got smashed by oregon. osu hasnt played anyone that would beat an all-star team of guys from therx.

It hasn't worked, that is the problem. every other year there is some level of controversy about a team getting screwed or being left out.

big 10 is still 3rd or 4th best conference in cfb and is a lot better conference than the ones usf or bc are in

That being said I think OSU, USF, and BC all lose at least one game, and that we have a national championship game of Oregon v. Oklahoma (especially if UF gets another shot at LSU in the SEC title game)

Ohio State isnt one of the top 10 teams right now...their schedule has been beyond weak....Teams that IMO would beat Ohio State 75% of the time if they played right now...LSU, Florida, Cal, Oregon, Oklahoma, and these i believe would win at least 50% of the time....Boston College, West Virginia, USC, Virginia Tech, Arizona State, Texas, and Michigan.

And your suggesting that no one will complain about being left out if there is a playoff? Is every Div 1 NCAA team going to make the playoff? If not, you are just creating a different controversy.

I am pretty sure Ohio St will lose a game the rest of the year and LSU, if they win out, may still get a shot at the national title game. South Florida is likely to lose one game the rest of the year and the same is true for BC. There will be no undefeated team and LSU and USC will jump ahead of the other 1 loss teams.

No one in the Big 10 can beat them so without a miracle, OSU are National Champions already. The Bowl team (Watch UCS Again..) will be dealing with an electric team in OSU. And California belongs in 1-AA.

No, not all suggesting no one will complain. The 65th team in hoops complains, but who gives a shit if the 7th place ACC team that was 17-14 and 8-10 in conference doesn't make the tournament. Of course teams will complain, but a team that is 9-3 and doesn't win their conference has less of a legitimate gripe than an undefeated Auburn (OU/USC), 1 loss #1 USC (OU/LSU), 1 loss #2 Oregon (Nebraska), 1 loss #2 Miami (who beat FSU) and 1 loss #3 UW (who beat Miami that same year).

I would rather have the controversy between 9-3 Michigan St getting in over 9-3 Texas Tech than an undefeated SEC champion being left out (or any of the others mentioned).

That may be true, which creates just as big a mess, if you have 1 loss LSU or So Car, OU, USC or Ore or Cal, OSU, again, same mess, 3 or 4 1 loss major conference teams and 2 are left pissing in the wind.
