Former NEB qb great TURNER GILL is perhaps turning the program around at Buffalo.

If he should somehow get this team into a bowl game, I would like to be the first to nominate him as the potential COACH OF THE YEAR!

Hell, if he wins just one more game this year he should be up for consideration.

In my mind, should the Bulls just so happen to win six games, this will be the biggest season long surprise in ALL of CFB this season............unless SOUTH FLORIDA runs the table that is.

Think about this, with their THREE wins this season, Buffalo has already had a successful season by their standards.

Noticed on the bottom of the MAC standings is Kent State who beat Iowa State who beat Iowa. So you know what that means Fish, Iowa and Iowa State would both be on the bottom of the MAC.

AGREE.....throw them all in a hat.

I had a poster yesterday debating with me that Illinios was a top 25 team............when the facts are they would be an underdog to at VERY LEAST, NINE TEAMS FROM THE SEC ALONE..........and only slight favs over Miss St., Vandy, and Ole Miss. Could this change as the season progresses, yes. But right now they would be a dog to nine teams on a neutral field..............and this team is contending for the Big Ten crown(supposedly)?

Miss St, Vandy, and Ole Miss fit the mold of the Big Ten teams from 3rd through 9th...........throw them all in a hat.

Betting lines are the true measure of a team's worth. They should throw away all the polls and the BCS bullshit and let the bettors decide the top 8 teams.

Buffalo has been a surprise. It's not quite as easy to move from the outhouse to the penthouse in the MAC as in the Sun Belt...but let's not make too much out of it just yet. The Bulls have beaten Toledo, Ohio (def. is pathetic this yr.) and Temple...inexplicably routed them, much to my chagrin.

Props go to HC Gill though, and yeh, he may not be at UB for much longer.

there are no words to describe how bad the mac is this year from top to bottom. ive been capping this conf for years and its the worst in recent memory all around. but this is a well timed post by fish because buffalo is starting to resemble a legitimate college football program.

theyre still really young on defense and look lost from time to time on that side of the ball.

but they have some of the most underrated backs in the non-bcs conferences.

starks and henry are two very solid weapons in the backfield.

and all turner gill-coached teams are going to pride themseves in running the football.

i think 50% of their success is because the mac is absolutely horrible this year (toledo started a 3rd string true freshman QB yesterday)

but there is definitely something to be said for a good portion of their success coming from the foundation and coaching that gill has brought to the program.

they have a legitimate shot to beat syracuse next week. doesnt sound like much, but it would be a huge step in the right direction for them.

the one reason im a little hesitant to consider this team legit is because in their trip to muncie to face one of the few decent teams in the conference (ball state) they got their doors blown off.

week to week, you never know what youre going to get with the bulls. but their offensive backfield is very nice. as much as id like to say they cant win big mac games because their defense will fail them, i cant because .... well, NOBODY plays defense in the mac this year.

BUFFALO takes AKRON to the woodshed!!!

BUFFALO now with four wins on the season and still bowl eligible........................

Forget USF, this will be the feel good story of the year in CFB if Buffalo can somehow scratch their way into a bowl game.

Good news - they control their own destiny. Bad news - so do BG and Mia-Ohio, both figure to spank the Bulls.
