Turnovers + Mike Hart help MICH down Illinois

First off, the Fighting Illini are loaded with young and budding potential superstars at the D-1 level........QB McGEE and WR BENN will be household names to even the casual CFB fan in due time.

Having said that they are moving up a whole new class when taking on the likes of Michigan and the former four and five star recruits they bring to the table that are now starting for this team.

Michigan has shown great heart(no pun intended on Mike Hart) since dropping their first two games of the season and are now playing hard nosed Michigan style football, that of forcing turnovers on the defensive side of the ball(four takeaways in four of the last five games) and dedicated Mike Hart running with reckless abandon.

Illinios will have trouble winning this game........

1. Huge dose of reality last week in losing to Iowa, forcing the Illini to think and ponder if they have really reached the stage of contender yet .........even in a remotely weak conference.

2. Young players have a tendency to turn the ball over and Michigan is gunning for T.O.'s right now with reckless abandon and they should continue this against Illinois............

3. Last week Iowa showed that with a relatively weak OL and a good back, that Illinois can be ran on effectively............Mike Hart and Co. are a step above Iowa in this department so this has to concern them.

PREDICTION

I forecast the Fighting Illini turning the ball over at least 3 times in this game and Mike Hart or another RB rushing for at least 120 yards. Both teams will move the chains with semi-regularity throughout the game.

By the way, if your any kind of CFB fan, highly suggest you tune into this affair...........there is no other game I'm looking forward to watching this coming Saturday other than this barnburner.

Well, Buffalo @ Syracuse on ESPNU ............as I cheer for the Bulls in their quest to become bowl bound for what I believe would be their first bowl game in school history.

Who is starting for Illinois at QB? The biggest key to me is if Williams is strting they are 1 dimensional as hell.

Sounds good but is Hart healthy? He was limping badly and never came back?

After coming out in the second quarter, Hart appeared to be relatively healthy in the second half as he smiled and laughed with teammates while watching the game.

"Talk to coach [Lloyd] Carr," he said repeatedly as he walked off the field after the game.

Carr bristled during his news conference when asked about the extent of the injury and whether it would keep Hart out of the next game at No. 18 Illinois, but was a little more forthcoming during Michigan's radio broadcast.

"How much swelling and how he feels in these next couple of days will really be the determining factor on what it looks like in terms of him coming back," he said. "He's a tough guy, a quick healer."

Hart's teammates expect him to be on the field.

"It's going to take a lot to keep Mike off that field," safety Jamar Adams said. "Somehow, he's going to find his way out there."

Against Purdue, Hart had 21 carries for 102 yards and two touchdowns that helped build a 31-7 halftime lead. He set a school record with his seventh straight 100-yard game.

I think McGee fits the bill against Michigan better than Williams.

If Williams does start, I would still expect McGee in by the 2nd quarter........but who knows with Zookhead.

Zook is a poor head coach on game day. He is too emotional and doesn't focus on the next play.

Look for Michigan to establish a new line of scrimmage all day.

You and others perhaps, not me.

This Mich-Illinios game intrigues the hell out of me, as does the Buffalo/Syracuse game............to each his own and thats perfect and the way it should be.

MICH is #24 after starting 0-2, a win here ould set up a huge last game AT HOME vs. #1 Ohio State. Lloyd Carr has a shot to redeem himself This very year.

You know you're fading one of the greatest teams of all time - a team that dominated your Hawkeyes - the children will be here momentarily.

Thanks for the info. I think you got something here again. Nice to have a healthy workhorse to start with.

You and the Mrs really are into Buffalo. They have a good coach (Nebraska Alum) and it is always good to see teams find success.

1. IOWA
2. BUFFALO/SOUTH FLORIDA

By the way, I have a super strong prediction down the road with USF.........stay tuned.

Oh, and yes, former Neb great Turner Gill is doing a great job it appears at UB.

Should be a great game under the lights. Juice is starting, but will have a short leash. McGee gives us a much better chance. Juice is a great kid with a great attitude, but he should move to running back. McGee can't run the option quite like Juice, but he's still decent, and is 10X the passer Juice is. Go Illini!

Not sure if you mean with USF against Rutgers or for all the marbles...either way they are well coached by the former Oklahoma alum..they play great defense and are physical. Big game for them this week and Rutgers will not lay over.

Agree on all accounts.........

As mentioned, this is the game of the week for me...........not just for betting purposes either, but just from a CFB fan standpoint and longtime follower of the Big Ten.

Illinois hasn't beaten Michigan IN Champaign since 1983...its been mostly pretty ugly with almost no real close games.
