The Byrd-man going against Wake who has been struggling with injuries and inconsistencies, i dont see how this game is not high scoring. Byrd has stepped up in the playoffs and pitch well, but Wakefield has been bad in his recent outings and who knows how healthy he really is. I dont see either starter having much success against the big lineups they will have to face. An obvious must win for the Red Sox, hopefully they will just touch Byrd up for 10 and make it easy on me.

only thing that scares me is the weather. october just 'deadens' the ball in a park like cleveland. its hard to get a fly ball to carry. doubles in the gap become balls that are tracked down on the run by centerfielders. fly balls that would normally be 3-4 rows deep in the stands are warning track outs. i totally agree about the pitching matchup. hard not to give the over a look. just not thrilled about playing overs at this time of year in cleveland when the true fall weather has arrived.

Agreed. Both pitchers are capable of covering the over on their own with the lineups they are going against, worth a small play IMO. Playoff baseball is a bitch though.

Very sharp-I think we've seen a good demonstration of that the last 2 nights at Coors.

either team's bats could push the game over. byrd pitched well vs. nyy his last outing, but had not pitched well in sept-oct. this could be a similar situation as westbrook yesterday. he had not pitched well in sept/oct & vs. nyy, but he got some timely outs and vs boston and was only hit for 2 runs. i could see this happening again. i would only bet the over if you think cle will light up wakefield.

i personally have no action here, since i've been a tribe fan for over 40 years. the one thing i will say is that generally this year, this team has had difficulty against soft-tossers. i have not researched to see how they've done against wakefield recently.

The key for Byrd is to get ahead of the hitters. Westbrook threw first pitch strikes to 18 of the first 20 hitters he faced, mean sox batters could not afford to layoff his sinker as often as they would have liked.

i really don't see an advantage, over or under.

I hear the weather is supposed to be shit. Probably hurts my over play. But Wake in the rain with nagging injuries could be batting practice for the Indians.
