Do you consider yourself a fundamental handicapper, situational handicapper, trend and angle handicapper, numbers cruncher, and/or a combination of any or all of the above, or do you use another method? Feel free to share your thoughts.

I do some of that as well. I look for bad teams because they are fundamentally unsound and inconsistent. If I find them playing against a defensive orientated team, they are likely to get shutdown and the opponent will gradually widen the gap leading to a cover. I'm not big on trends myself, although years ago before free agency and salary caps, when teams remained intact for longer periods of time, you could use past history in pro sports, particularly football.

oldmanTed, I'm a contrarian that looks for line value. The "climate" in sports wagering has changed so much in the last twenty years, that there are times I end up parked on the "obvious" side. Good Luck

This topic has come up here before, someone broght up the book BLINK, which talks about first insticnt and intuitive feel. That is a gift for some. Also Alan Boston talks about flow when you dont hesitate or labor over a pick and it is a natural feel type of selection. Those are winners when their is hesitation with relationships, handicapping games, or other things in life it is not in "the zone" and proabably not correct thought.

I think God has gifted some if not all with feel, and dont think it is used enough or developed in most of us. For me I need to NOT hear others because it is brainwashing, bhrainwahsing is to prevelant in todays society, from advertisers to academia and other satanic organizations such as ESPN, Coca Cola, GM, etc. They have 1 goal in mind which is to seperate you from your dollar. They way they do that is to brainwash you into a certain way of thinking.

Company men like Sean Salsbury,Bill Curry, Gary Danielson Jay Bilas, Dick Vitale push the SEC or in basketabll the Big East and ACC because it equal more dollars for ESPN. As handicappers it is up to us not to buy into SOCIETYS LIES. THE FDA, FBI, INSURANCE companys, Pharmacutical companys are all liars. My job as a handicapper is to IDENTIFY the lie and take ADVANTAGE of that.

You see so many starting qb that have the job becasue money or politics dictate that they start. My favorite music is Jack Johnson becasue he teaches us not to believe the LIARS.

To even entertain the thought of winning at sportsbetting, you must first learn to see the forest through the trees.

True in many ways, Railbird. I've become a better handicapper by not watching games (at least with the sound on) or ESPN, or listening to sports radio. Their job is to provide narrative. This "narrative" reflects public opinion and is what sets the line. So being contrary to the public narrative can be profitable.

But you can't always be contrary. Raibird has picked quite a few favorites in his time. Some favorites are actually undervalued.

I dont profess to being a handicapper, but I do have a knack on knowing which way the lines might move...but the trick is still trying to pick winners, something that I still haven't mastered....I sometimes try to fade myself, still no luck...I consider myself to be an educated square...that is why I work in the sportsbook industry...and I am too stubborn to follow the so-called wiseguys...
