then they are sadly mistaken..there is no comparison.

First off all, they were the underdog to the Yanks. Here they came in as favs vs the Tribe. Role reversal.

Second, the 2004 team had character and grit. This team comes up zero in those departments imo. JD Drew, Lugo and Crisp are three players that can't handle the big spots. They put of great numbers on teams that weren't pennant contenders, but on the big stage with a contending team they come up short.

Cadillac, this series is where the TRUE Red Sox fans will be revealed. By losing the last 3 games, the Red Sox bandwagon has been thinned of hangers-on and wannabees.

Let me play things out for you.....

Beckett wins game 4. Period.

Back to Boston where Cleveland has to win one measley game. In steps Shilling. Shilling knows how to step up and play in BIG games. Sox win by a score of 4-3.

Final game of the series. What happened? Indians should have won this. Indians feel the pressure. Dice K, inconsolable in game 3, pulls his game together and shows why Boston put out all they yen. Ortiz, Manny...pull the sticks out and thrash a superior but shaken Indian pen....

World Series.

Boston comes into Colorado, heavy favorites, Rockies cooled off, Boston Sure bet. Colorado in serious trouble. Colorado wins in 5. Boston trades Manny to the Yankees, Big Poppy gets his knee fixed.

End of story.

Something seems to be missing. Talent wise, imo they are way better then Cleveland. However, their lack character is where the Tribe is winning the battle b/c they seem to have a big edge. It seems grit and character is winning over the talent in this series.

Agree, but somehow a strange calm is presiding over the Sox. I think they realize - this is it, and if this series is just shifted over to Boston, they could still pull it out. There are people in that clubhouse who have been in this situation before, and that can only help.

What troubled me is the way Manny hit that home run and mocked the crowd. Somehow that arrogance signaled to me that the Sox will always believe they are the better team, and can win this thing regardless of their circumstances. Is Manny an ass? - Sure. The Sox would undoubtedly relish pulling the series out from under Cleveland's noses.

Baseball is a nutty game where the best team may not win, and in a single baseball game anything can happen. The odds are clearly in the Indians favor to win the series, but the Sox have questionably the best pitcher in baseball stepping up to the mound tomorrow with everything at stake. Perhaps this means the Sox have all the pressure and Indians will relax. Possible.

Am I a Sox fan? No. Do I care if the Sox win the series? No.

All I can think right now is that the Sox have a higher probability of winning game 5 with superior pitching, and a hitting lineup that can destroy any staff at any moment.

If the juice is not too high, I am looking to bet the Sox, otherwise I will sit back and enjoy the game.

As for the series outcome, if the series shifts to Boston, it is up for grabs once again.

GL to whomever you are backing.

Sox are way better than cleveland talent wise? I see 4 big hitters on the Sox & big zeros at the end of the batting order, while Cleveland bats are potent 1-9. Indians starters, BP, all outplaying the Sox. Wakefield? Dice-K? Westbrook? Byrd? Where's the talent gap?

Sox are gonna lose the series for the same exact reason as the Yanks: not enough pitching.

For starters, Schill's stuff isnt like it was in 2004

And the guy above me is correct. Boston is matching CLE in hits, but they arent getting anyone home.

Talent wise the Red Sox are worse.

There are pitchers (like Zambrano and Owings) who hit better than Drew, Lugo and Crisp.

Starting to sweat Indian fans? What happened to that 3-1 lead?

Now the team with the most heart will be revealed in the final game of the series.

I just hope the Sox didn't leave all their hits and runs in tonight's game.

Way to go Sox

:money8:

Thanks CLE.

Good Try, and your best shot really was to try and piss Beckett off on game 5.
That move looks a little silly now - Doesn't it?

It was all downhill after that.

The Rockies are next, and the Sox are hot as hell.

Hope sitting on your duffs for the past few days and watching the Sox come back didn't intimidate you one bit!

True Sox fan.

Drew woke up last night, Sox still have less talent?

Yup ... Drew hit his quota for RBI in one game ... now he'll go back to sleep again for 5 more games ... he'll hit into a couple of double plays, and take more called 3rd strikes with the bases loaded.
