With the Red Sox just one loss from elimination, the star slugger was asked about Game 5 of the AL Championship Series against Cleveland.

"Why should we panic?" he said Wednesday in a rare clubhouse interview. "We've got a great team."
And then, this: "It doesn't happen, so who cares? There's always next year. It's not like it's the end of the world."
Try telling that to all those people in New England. Whatever, that's Manny.

Actually every Sox fan I have seen Ben Affleck incuded agrees it is just the media blowing the comment out of proportion.

Manny cares, Manny will try and hit the best he can.

one of the shows on espn made a good point about manny making comments like that and him still putting up the #s in the postseason or him playing with a piano on his back like AROD does and doing completely nothing in the postseason...ill take mannys indifference and #s anyday...

...whats really funny is when something like 9/11 or the VT shootout happens people say thats real life shit and sports become insignificant...this guy comes out and says it (during a "downtime" as far as US tragedies go) and people are jumping all over him...he is right, life does go on...its goddamn baseball
