The power and clutch-ness to drive it out of the park, combined with the 15 second trip down to 1st base, and then chatting with the ump instead of taking second. If my kids ever ask about Ramirez, I'll just show them that one at bat.

I love to watch him though, amazing hitter.

So Manny didn't run to 2nd ... whoopie ... the announcers need to get over it.

At least it's better than some shit "MAJOR LEAGUE" player earning $5 million and not being able to:
  • get a bunt down
  • get a run in from 3rd with nobody out
  • hitting into a double play with bases loaded and nobody out
  • swinging at a pitch 2 feet off the plate

I swear manny has never done any of these. He is lazy, a terrible fielder, and is a good person to show your kid the "what not to do's". You are making 92 zillion dollars a year Hustle to Fucking First Base

ah...no its not....if a guy fails to do his job likle u described or is struggling in a slump, he's probably giving his best, as the Manny situation is him just being lazy, NOT giving 100% and putting his team in jeoperdy in an elimination game in the playoffs...it doesnt get any worse.

Manny put his team in jeopardy??? Will you stop with the cliches already?

EFFORT and "giving your best" means diddly squat. This isn't Little League baseball where you tell your midget 4'2" son to go out there and TRY HARD ... has MLB started handing out rings for EFFORT now?

PRODUCE!!!!

I don't care if they TRY HARD ... Manny drove in a guy from first base with 2 out ... if only Crisp can't drive in a guy from 3rd with nobody out, I don't care if he's "giving his best" ... that stuff is for Little Leagues.

You want Manny to be a role model for your kids? I didn't know that was his job ...

I hope you are a role model for him too ... and if you were, would you show him this post when he's 4 years old?

All one has to do is look at your avatar to know where your coming from.

Glad your would show you kids that "one at-bat" rather than showing them the fundamentals of hitting a baseball from countless manny clips on hitting.

So sick of so many fans bad mouthing players for this and that................in most cases, not all, it is a way for that fan to make their own lives and faults appear more accepted.

Total bullshit in more ways than one............

Orlando Cabrera got a standing ovation at Fenway ... so did Kevin Millar ... so did Pedro ... so did Dave Roberts ...

... Johnny Damon got booed ... and it wasn't just for going to NY, it was for going after he pledged publicly to never go there.

I know you don't watch most Red Sox games when you say that ...

so cincy, your saying you like him in LF? you trust him in LF? I don't care where you live or how many games you watch, manny blows in the outfield.

It's not like Lowell could have got him home from 2nd anyways. He was OUT.

TERRIBLE and LAZY were the words used. He is not terrible. He plays that wall better than most ... and he has a VERY accurate arm.

Teams have tried to run on Manny ... and he consistantly guns them down.

Check this out:

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050618&content_id=1094760&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb

This year he is tied for 23rd in the league in outfield assists ... even though he missed a quarter of the season.

Fielding is not just about getting to a ball ... Johnny Damon gets to a ball, but cannot even throw it from center field to 2nd base without 2 hops (or a relay man) ... yet people think Damon is a great outfielder ... Johnny Damon had ZERO = NONE = NADA outfield assists this year. Teams will run on Johnny Damon even if he catches the ball 40 feet behind 2nd base.

If you're going to debate this further, please come with FACTS ... I won't reply to any more "He is terrible and lazy" comments
