If I'm flying on an International flight from Canada to Las Vegas with a layover in Salt Lake City, can I just stay at Salt Lake City? Will there be a problem with immigration or anything getting out of the airport? :think2:
This involves an arbitrage if anyone is worried about this being forum related.
Thanks for any advice.

if you don't check your bags, i dont think it will be any issue. May have to go through Customs though

You will go through US customs and immigration at the Canadian Airport before you even get to the departure lounge for your flight. On arrival at Salt Lake City your flight will be treated as a domestic US arrival.

Thanks guys. This will save me $600 on a direct flight to SLC. I won't check any bags. I think I should tell the airline that I won't be continuing onto to Vegas so they are not waiting around for me.
Will I need a decent excuse or will they not care?

Airlines are unhappy with customers doing this and have been known to cancel return portions of itineraries if you fail to show for the ongoing connection.

I never knew that. You'd think they would save money ( a bag of peanuts, can of pop, less weight to move). I suppose ( now) they might think you left a bomb behind ( somehow) ?

I guess book return on a different airline, if you do this ?

I think they should allow it, but of course no checked bags.

Actually, DO NOT TELL THEM. They may cancel your entire ticket. The airlines do not like you to do this for various reasons. Good luck.

If you don't show for the SLC-LAS segment of your ticket, they will cancel the rest of your ticket.
