250,000 evacuated in San Diego County, more to come with substantial property loss. An entire hospital is being evaculated. Weather making things worse, not better.

Hoping for the best to all our SoCal posters, even you Whormoan. I have many friends on the 15 corridor and RSF/Fairbanks Ranch area...prayers to all of you.

Wow-I knew about the Malibu fire, but hadn't heard a word about this one.

This one sounds seriously bad.

The streetlights came on at 1PM yesterday because it was so dark from smoke and ash. I live on the coast in Ventura County about 20-25 miles north of Malibu.

Saw a piece on 60 minutes last night about the incredible increase in Western fires over the last 10 years. Back then, 1 or 2 events a season covering 100,000 acres was the norm. Now events greater then 200,000 acres are common place with the large fires now 500,000 to 600,000 acres. Projections are that 1,000,000 acre fires are just around the corner.

Somewhere high in the desert near a curtain of a blue
The sane man skirts under the wind
But down here in the city of the lime lights
The fans of santa ana are witherin'
And you can't deny that living is easy
If you never look behind the scenery
It's showtime for drag lines
And bedlam is dreamin' of rain

When the hills of Los Angeles are burnin'
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burnin'

This is not a test
Of the emergency broadcast system
When malibu fires and radio towers
Conspire to dance again
And I cannot believe the media Mecca
They're only trying to battle reality, catch it on prime time, story at nine
The whole world is goin' insane

When the hills of Los Angeles are burnin'
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burnin'

A clock that reads
The end of days
Shotgun roundabouts are bending in the haze

More a question than a curse
How could hell be any worse?

The flames are startin'
The cameras runnin'
So take warnin'

When the hills of Los Angeles are burnin
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burnin'

That 60 minutes piece was yet more propaganda BS for the global warming
kool-aid crowd.

They're saying that they don't have enough people to fight the fire in california, because they're too busy trying to rescue people
that didn't evacuate when they were told.

So, people are losing their houses because other people didn't follow directions. If I was a fire-fighter, or a home-owner in danger
I'd be ticked.

With ignorant opinions like that, maybe we need more "BS" propaganda\education. There is PLENTY of evidence that it is real, and is becoming more and more of a serious problem.

Here's a map of some of the fires:

The one nearest where I live is not on the map. I live southeast of Santa Ana and the fire is about where the letter "a" at the end of "Laguna" is.

Last night I saw a huge dark cloud and figured it was smoke from a fire. I drove out to about 5 miles from the fire and there was a ribbon of fire on the hillside. It was north from where I live and the winds were blowing south so I got the direct brunt of all the smoke. There was a blood red moon in the sky.

The hallways in my apartment building are open-ended. The hallways smelled like smoke. I went for a walk last night and there was ash and branches in the swimming pools. My clothes and hair smelled like smoke after I got back in.

Here is a picture of Malibu Presbyterian Church burning:

YAWN. The contention is not whethor or not there is warming, the
contention is if mankind has anything to do with it.

Mars has been warming too, there are no SUVs on mars, go figure?

Check out John Stossel's expose of AlGore's BS:
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uO9laiUXS1o"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uO9laiUXS1o" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

9 lies in AlGore's Propaganda film:

You can try and see through the political BS, or you can keep drinking
Kool-aid.

Many high cost homes leads me to believe most is insured losses. I hope homeowners have been increasing their coverage over the years due to dramatic increases in property value.
