My first realization I would enjoy sports gambling was in seventh grade I would bring a radio to school and listen to it during March Madness and I couldn't focus on anything but the games.....what was yours!?

LOL, I love that response. For me it's been since high School about 14 years ago although I didn't start betting "real" money until about 6 years ago. when I was young though I didn;t have the $$$ to risk.

When I played a tip sheet from my buddy who was running them in college for a bookie several years ago. I picked all 8 games correct the first time I played one of them!!! Bet like $1 or $2 and won like $90 or so.....Hooked after that.

I used to play poker for baseball cards when I was in 5th grade. It soon moved onto betting baseball cards on NBA games with friends. The rest is history.

The newspapers. They put in those daily lines. I wondered what they were for and what the half points meant. Once I figured things out, I just couldnt wait to find a book. (Because of course as a teenager I think I am some kind of expert and it will all be so easy)

I guess I was about 16 or 17. I knew I wasnt going to be getting an athletic sch0larship of any kind. So I was turned on to handicapping and betting because it let me feel like I was a part of the game somehow. I know that sounds kinda dumb. But thats what went through my mind then.

My freshman year of high school some of us would bet each other a few bucks here and there (usually no more than $5). None of us knew much of anything about spreads at the time so we'd just bet each other on who would win straight up, even odds on all games. I was kind of the ringleader of the operation (big surprise, huh?) I did pretty well as I knew enough to take advantage of kids' Packers homerism. I even kept records back then and everything. I probably bet no more than 10 games that year but I had the bug and better yet, it made me feel like a bigshot to be a gambler.

Man, looking back, if only I knew then what I know now, I could've paid my college tuition from gambling... ::sigh::

10 years old and a diehard Cowboys and Staubach fan. My pop hated the Cowboys with a passion (still does). I said I'd bet him my allowance (5 bucks) they would win...he said make it $10, but I'd have to give him 5 1/2. WTF? After he explained what the hell that meant, I said you're on.

Was so sure they'd win I peddled to the store and spent the Fin on a box of Chick-O-Stix. Ate the entire box during the game.

I felt like this:

:dancefool

Haven't eaten a Chick-O-Stix since but it's still hard for me to lay off the Cowboys.

Football contest every Wed in my local newspaper when I was a kid. It was 25 college games and the grand prize each week was $25. Well even then I knew $25 wasn't a lot of money but I just cared about trying to WIN. That got me started on needing action during the football weekends.

Also some kid on the school bus offered to bet me that Miami would beat SF in Super Bowl 19. Even then I knew SF was going to win and that I was a lot smarter than that kid. But I still didn't have the guts to take the bet.

As soon as I learned how to read well, I guess around 8 or so and my grandfather would have me circle who I thought would win each game ATS.

10th grade... I bet a teacher $10 on the Bears-Pats Super Bowl. I had the Patsies. That went well didn't it?

Back in high school, heading up some gambling operations with the local kids. Then I learned all about point spreads and the race was on!
