there will probably be plenty of threads popping up over the next half day or so with people taking colorado with the logic that "it just looks too easy to take boston in game two so im going to (attempt to be) sharp and play the rockies"

but can anyone really put good money on colorado right now after seeing the obvious "class mismatch" in game one. im sure the rockies will settle in and play better in game two. but i dont even think the rocks would be worth a bet at +250 right now. boston is just absolutely rolling.

the difference is that colorado is a mediocre team that got hot to get here.

boston is a very good team that got hot. and that makes their current surge exponentially more dangerous.

8 days off and a 13-1 beating can easily wipe out the memories of their streak. Pitchers need to be patient with Boston's lineup, so Jimenez might get shelled also as he has trouble with large pitch counts per inning.

Yes, and the Layoff. Can The Rocks shake off the rust in time to keep themselves in the series?

I really don't think you can underestimate the Beckett factor last night. Boston is just a different team when he pitches. They know they won't need many runs, so they loosen up and hit the tar out of the ball. Schilling is another story entirely, and there's a good chance (at least a 2.5-1 chance) we'll see the team that went down 3-1 last series until, yup, Beckett pitched again.

Also, let's not forget that this game is really do or die for Colorado now. I think if they get down 2 at home, then have to play in Boston and face Beckett again, they can pretty much hang it up. Season is on the line tonight...

I think the play has to be Boston tonight. There is absolutely no way I can take Ubaldo Jimenez, a rookie who just saw his 17-game winning buddy get smoked. Then, Morales comes in, and he gets smoked too. Those two pitched great all year, and Jimenez just watched them get destroyed. No way this kid has confidence tonight in going against Schilling. Especially with what Schilling has done in the past. Maybe if it was in Denver, but its not. Its at Fenway. Finally, there is only a 10% chance of rain tonight, meaning that place will be going even crazier. I honestly think they weren't as raucous as usual since it was cold and rainy. Either way...Good Luck whoever you take. I'm thinking Boston RL as it should be around EVEN.

Boston's offense at Fenway in this postseason has been unbelievable. I expect them to put another show on tonight knowing they will be going to Colorado and have to sit one of their hot bats. With Schilling and a fully rested DelCarmen, Okajima, and Papelbon the Rockies will need to find a way to score 6 or 7 runs if they plan to be in this game. The only play in my mind would be a Red Sox run line, or a Team Total over.

i would think you would go by the last time a pitcher started. schilling and matsu both got lit up their first starts, but then looked much sharper their starts of the series.
