Got a question for you all:

Is it possible to control the market, so to speak? Say you saw a big favorite at -200, what if you offered -190. Do you think that offer would get eaten up almost immediately? Are there really that many baseball bettors at Matchbook?

The reason I am asking this is because of an angle I am investigating that will only really work with Matchbook, but do not know how the Matchbook market really works as I have never offered anything, just accepted offers on occasion.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like you want to middle the game.

Nope, doesn't involve any middling. It is playing a certain side depending on a set of circumstances, but I need to make sure I am able to get people to bet that side I want to offer up EVERY TIME. Will offering a 5-10 cent discount on all the other people accomplish that?

Your now in My domain and let me say firstly, the average American Bettor is light Years behind. All markets in any exchange hit critical mass sooner or later which means great value for the 100% punter but the market is full of Traders with some sort of angle and if YOUR angle isnt backed up by solid reasons, you will do your bollocks. I have no doubt Books use all the exchanges and the way pinny move their lines its almost a must that they get involved in Matchbook. Matchbooks owners (Wsex) also have a unique angle in that they can offer -103 each side knowing the winner has to pay 2% comm, in doing so they guarantee plenty of liquidity. Exchanges will in time dictate the markets and Books will be no more than brokers, British Horse Racing is now at that level, which is much more competative than Sports Betting. :drink:

I forgot to answer your original question.

If you keep blindly offering -190 about -200 on an Exchange, you will end up in the poor house. Thats because the players in that situation are traders who have no intention of laying even -200 and will be out of the market long before the start. The slack is taken up by greenhorns and genuine punters getting value over the Books.

I'm not "blindly" offering those prices, in fact it will be much lower most of the time. I will only be offering those reduced prices to bettors if the angle fits a game. This could be daily. I have researched this angle extensively over the past few seasons of data, and am going to be conducting the rest very soon. Either way, it looks like my angle is solid and profitable, which is all I really care about.

So, will my offer always get accepted if I am offering 5-10 cents reduced juice than what other people are offering? Is the exchange market big enough to get this done on a daily basis?

Thanks.

How do you put in a price that isn't listed? I can see how you change the juice but can you change the spread and offer a new spread?

Are we talking overnight betting?

That makes all the difference.

Nope, I am talking about putting these offers in during the course of the day before a game(s).

I appreciate all of the help, but I still haven't received a definite answer as to whether or not my offer would be accepted every time I put one in if it was 5-10 cents better than anyone else's offer...

I would expect that to be the case but need it confirmed. Also, would it be possible to change the market using this strategy a bit (not that I would want to do that)?

I've made a lot of offers at Matchcrook.

There is a lot too it though, cause a lot of times someone already has an offer which is about 5-10 cents better than what anyone has.

So I don't see what you are doing that is different than what is already going on.

Matchbook

Try it - If you make an offer 10 cents better that the current market your offer will be snapped up within a minute. Somebody has an automated program moving numbers there - Pinny burbs and Matchbook moves within 5-10 seconds. This is assuming the favorite is -200. You offer +190 which we see as -190. There will be some immediate covers as the gap is usually only -200/+195 or so.

Be sure to let me know when you are going to put out these offers so I can scalp me some free money.

Thanks for the help guys. So I can only assume my angle will work well at Matchbook if you say the offer will be snapped up within a few minutes.

I am not really trying to offer 10 cents off of what everyone else is offering unless I am having troubles with selling my 5 cents off offer. And just to clarify, I will always be offering for the favorite, so basically offering a certain favorite 5 cents lower than anybody else has it, so I will actually be playing the underdog every time but will be offering the favorite on Matchbook.

Gynecologist - These will be during regular season baseball. Feel free to scalp all you want, since I will be making money regardless. Just be on the lookout for certain favorites being offered for 5-10 cents lower juice than any other people are offering. This may be daily or could be only weekly. You'll have to spot them yourself, though. :103631605
