Why the hell do people bother with parlays if they plan on hedging the last piece of it...

Beacuse it sucks to lose the last one. Ive been there. Believe me; it's not fun. Garanteed money feels a lot better.

I think what AFLGuru is saying is "why put that last piece in the parlay?". The last piece doesn't start until after the others are final and you can then just play that last piece as a straight wager for whatever amount you're comfortable with and thus not give the house any additional "buy-back" juice. If you hit the parlay without the last late piece, you have your guaranteed money already.

whenever anyone asks me that dumb question about how i "choose to hedge a parlay" granted theres usually a 4-5k payout........

i simply tell them...."because i wasnt planning on winning anyway"

when confronted with that logic, they r dumbfounded
