Fumble on the opponent's one yard line, and you get it at the one. Fumble and it goes into the endzone, and it's a touchback. Who's the genius that thought of this nonsense?

Roughing the punter needs to be changed also. This business of kicking your leg into someone in the area, falling down and faking injury, and being rewarded with a first down.....it's horseshit.

I agree on both counts

Entirely too much flopping in all sports. I can't stand it and I think they need to start calling fouls and penalties for obvious flops

why just college? they are the same in the NFL.

Agree on the second, but not on the 1st. Where is the break of when you get the ball where recovered and at the 20? The 2? 3? 10?

College should change the rule that you are down w/o contact.

I don't watch much NFL, so I don't know if the rules are the same.

I think you misunderstood my first point. If you fumble on the opponent's one yard line, and it goes out of bounds, you keep the ball and have it at the one. If you fumble and it goes into the endzone out of bounds, there is a change of possession and a touchback. It's the dumbest rule in the history of sports.

CFB has bigger issues than this.

I like the first rule, and second one just needs to be called correctly.

They need to fix replays. These 90 year old geezers in the replay booth get the call wrong at a 80% clip or better. It's amazing.

Why do you like the first rule? Why should you lose possession, just because it went into the end zone before it went out of bounds? It makes no sense whatsoever.

You are right, I did misunderstand. What would you propose?

Cal beat Oregon because of this rule. Oregon would have scored and would have had a chance to win in OT. But this rule fucked them, and likely their national championship hopes.

The rule didnt do it to them, the fact they fumbled did it to them. They fumbled, just cause they were lucky enough for it to go out of bounds means they should be rewarded no matter?

I see your point that its a pretty drastic change for an odd bounce, but I dont mind the rule personally. Hang onto to the football and its not an issue, dont see any reason to further reward a team that fumbles and gets fortunate enough to have it go out of bounds.

Taking a dive & getting busted for it should be an automatic unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

I agree that Oregon fumbled, and lost the game. I had Cal that day, so it was okay with me at the time. But it's a dumb rule. If that's going to be the rule, then you should lose possession any time you fumble it out of bounds. It makes no sense......looking at replays for 5 minutes to see which side of the pylon the ball went out on, when one side is a first and goal, and the other is a turnover. Just makes no logical sense.

What the hell are these guys looking at up there!

Make the play clock 40 Seconds, for some reason at the end of games refs take about a week to 10 days to start the play clock.

And on opening night, a game is decided because of this stupid rule. Sure to happen many more times this season. Makes zero sense.
